Sorry to see you have had troubles eating normal foods, so long past your surgery date. Did you chew your meatballs super well, did you eat the bun? I'm not sure I'm looking forward to that happening....

Have you spoken to your dietitian or doctor about this??

Hi Deb - though I am technically about three months out, due to complications (leak etc) I have only been eating and drinking without a drip for (almost) six weeks. I ate about half of a six inch sub, bun and all. Which is a HUGE amount (if I eat bread, I can usually have about a quarter of a sandwich over about 30 minutes). Today I ate far too late and far too fast. And really, far too much. I did chew it well but didn't give myself enough time. And I also had soda Water today which I don't think was a great idea :) So it was several stupid things today! Overconfident much??? LOL...

I am not an expert and have done many a stupid thing recently, but the best advice I was given was to go slow and try a little, wait before having any more and LISTEN to your body. I don't practice what I preach lol but it was really good advice. I am trying to follow it!!

I had a toasted sandwich on grain bread with 1 slice of ham, 1 slice of cheese and 1 slice of Tomato. I squashed it in the toaster so it was about 5mm think and still only managed 1/2 in 1 hour. I just ate the ham off the other side and left the rest. I hate that "too full I have to puke of groan for an hour in pain" feeling that I think I stop way before I get there.

My parents invited me for a meal in the city sometime in December. They know its been a hard year for me and they want to treat me to some time out. All the single parents will know that a social life is nonexistent, especially when you work 10am-10pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I told my folks that they should go out with just each other and have a nice night out. They insisted that its ok because I'm "now such a cheap date because you hardly eat or drink, we're more than happy to shout you dinner at a nice restaurant anytime you like". Lol. So that's why my 2 sisters or daughter weren't invited, they eat too much. Lol. I know they meant it in a loving way.

Hi everyone - a question - do you have days when it is easier to eat than other days - just had my third being sick episode and it was when I was out which was a bit awkward. For some reason I just haven't been able to eat much over the weekend. I do have a cold so I am wondering if this is I'm,pasting that.

I'm still early days as you know, so I don't really have a lot of insight. It's definitely not about what your eating ie changes to your 'regular' diet?

Hi Sue - don't know if this applies but my friend ( who was sleeved two years ago) told me that even now, when she gets sick she can't eat much if anything at all. It's because (gross alert) the mucus you produce and swallow when sick sits in your stomach and basically fills you up. Told you it would be gross lol. Sorry you've been unwell. Hope you feel better soon!

Had a cruskit this morning with some cottage cheese.

How good is it eating something that crunches after weeks and weeks on Fluid and puree that makes your mouth feel fury. I was brushing my teeth 5 times a day at one stage ....

I can't wait! :) I bought some crab meat because I wanted a stronger taste. It goes down TOO well. Straight out the other end.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
