Recommended Posts

Not a year out, but wanted to say I was concerned with going to gatherings, bbq's, dinner etc bc I didn't want people to notice. I have done it multiple times now and nobody ever knows. I taste a little of everything and it's perfectly fine!!! Don't hold off do this for yourself

Everyone,

Words cannot express how grateful I am for your replies. You gave me the resolution I needed to tell my family tonight that I was making a decision for myself. Tomorrow morning, I'm calling my surgeon's office to schedule my surgery again.

They tried to talk me out of it, but all of their "reasons" were rooted in fiction: I won't be able to eat normal food again, I could die from malnutrition, that the surgery is untested, etc. I looked across the table at these obese people and thought about how they're concern was more about themselves than me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all.

I'm only three months out, but we had company last night. I don't eat much but nobody noticed. It's very normal. People don't really care and I just chat more and enjoy the company. I was shocked so early out things can feel so normal on tiny portions.

Oh op, I'm so happy to hear that!!! You never know, you might inspire your family and in a year they might be making appointments also!!!!

We can do this!!!

Let us know when your date is. Mine is June 4th and it seems surreal.

Please do not put ur surgery off for others.

Today i had 1 slice whole wheat toast w peanut butter; curry chicken w black Beans & kale & pear salad; turkey meat w mexican seasoning, cheese, onions, lettuce, 4 oz cofee, 3 bottles of Water and a few almonds...

I am 14 months out and down 96 lbs....my family now eats like i do...they respect my decsion because they see my dedication. The sleeve is my personal tool. It helps me to make choices i could not make a year ago..

You are going to do great. If u decide to have surgery or not let it be your choice. I would hate for u to resent your family in the future if the other program does not work for you.

I agree wholeheartedly with everyone else. I'm very glad you rescheduled your surgery, and are deciding to take the steps necessary to make yourself happy and healthy. I'm almost 2 months out, but still go out to eat with my family, and nothing seems off. We went to a burger joint last night, and while my husband was eating a huge cheeseburger and fries I ate a grilled chicken sandwich minus the bread. I was finished before everyone sure, but so was my 18 month old, so instead of her getting antsy because we were all still eating, I took her out of her seat and we walked around and played. It was fantastic.

MAY 29th, my friends! I start the pre-op diet a week from today. It DOES seem surreal, but I'm really excited.

congrats! I'm only 3 months out, but I have zero regrets.. best thing I've ever done for myself.

Also, just to give you an idea... I went to a mexican restaurant last week to Celebrate one of our work friends moving on to a new job..

I munched on a ton of chips and salsa... probably 1/4 of the bowl, ordered enchilada supreme which is 4 enchiladas, and ate 2 of them, and took the other 2 home for dinner.

Not only did I feel 100% normal, but I'm also really enjoying having leftovers for dinner when I go out :P

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
