  1. Have you ever been to an AlAnon meeting? As the former wife of an alcoholic, may I highly recommend that you attend one ASAP?

  3. Just remember that sticking to your pre-op diet can lead to fewer incisions and faster healing time. If you can remember that right before you eat something off the diet, it might help! Headaches are usually a sign of caffeine withdrawal , btw.

  8. Cottage cheese, soft lunch meats, bananas, applesauce.....
  9. My first thought is that you're working out too much and may be pushing your body too much. An hour at a time is probably exhausting this early on - you need to recover. Try cutting down your workouts to 30 mins at a time and see if that doesn't help your weight loss and your fatigue. Also, keep in mind that 2 pounds a week is GREAT. You will have stalls where you lose ZERO pounds. Keep your chin up.
  10. Have you used any of the Gas-X quick dissolve strips or chewables? Those helped me a lot.
  11. Call your doctor - you don't have to be that miserable!
  12. Very common due to the blood thinners you got.

  15. My husband told me I got the surgery because I was "too lazy to lose the weight normally". We're now in the middle of a divorce. You've got to do this for you - and your kids. You want to be around for them! If he comes around, great. If he doesn't, you still need to make the right decision for YOUR health.

  17. Congratulations! I lovvvvvvvvvve Dr. Nick - hope you have as great of an experience as I have!
  18. Pace yourself. 9 Days out is still new to the process! Just work on getting a little more protein and a little more fluids and walking a little more every day... and every day you'll feel a bit better - promise!

  20. My PA told me it's not a "fever" until it hits 101. I'm no MD or RN, but our home thermometer says the same thing. I would expect a little elevation to be normal, considering but your body just went through, but agree with Lissa that it might be nice to get some reassurance from a professional.
  21. I worked in a nice retail clothing chain throughout college and I can tell you that you would have to be wayyyyyy out of your size range for a salesperson to even blink about what section you are browsing in. People come in all different shapes and sizes so I never stopped being surprised whose butt fit into which size of pants! Even then, you could be shopping as a gift for someone else. Being able to fit a pinky toe into regular sizes is a huge accomplishment - keep your head held high. You belong there!!
  22. Great recommendations - though part of me thinks I deserve the ouch.....
  23. My NUT told me last week that it was better to get protein from food, but that I would need to ease into it. I can't see how there would have been any other way to do it! I'm still doing a protein shake when I first wake up just to make sure I'm set for the day. You're right - you just get too full at first.
  24. Three weeks seems crazy to me! I was driving as soon as I was off my meds - about Day 6, I believe. Just short distances, though, like to my daughter's school. It was a few more days before I felt totally okay for longer drives.
