  9. My husband was sleeved Wednesday (so he's 5 days post op), and he slept in the recliner part of his first night home, but then moved to the couch to sleep on his side. He said it felt better having the support of the couch back behind him. Plus, he can't move as much on the couch since there's just not much room.
  10. Same here....clear liquids the first 24 hrs after surgery, and then full liquids starting day 2 after surgery.
  11. Track your HR hourly over a 24 hr period. If it stays high (over 120 bpm) for more than a couple of hours, contact your surgeon. It can be a sign of a leak. Not trying to freak you out, but my hubby was sleeved Wednesday and his HR was high after surgery, so his surgeon did a CT scan and two barium swallows before we could leave just to make sure there wasn't a leak. There wasn't, thank goodness - they think it was because he was off his blood pressure meds for a day or two - once he started back on them, his HR went down.

  15. Glad you're starting to feel better! I'm still pre-op, but I'm a firm believer in the adult liquid Tylenol - I think it works faster than the pill form. I've only been able to find the Wal-Mart version, though I haven't done a thorough survey of all of the drugstores. Thank you for sharing your story! Best of luck in your recovery!
  16. This is one of the first things on my "why I'm doing this" list. My daughter is 3, and I don't want her to ever be embarrassed of me because of my weight.
  17. I will be doing a week-long liquid diet prior to my surgery. Neither my surgeon nor my NUT said anything about wanting me to do the pre-op diet to lose weight. The purpose is to shrink the liver to make it easier for him to get to my stomach during the surgery, as the stomach lies partly under the liver. Weight loss is just a bonus, not the goal.
  18. What would I need the thermometer for? I already bought 3 blender bottles. I'm hesitant to try the other flavors due to allergies. Possibly I could try the vanilla. Fireflea mentioned this above, so I'll defer to her expertise, having not tried it myself, but apparently temperature is important when you mix in the powder. If it's too hot, it'll change the texture (and flavor, I would assume). The exception is the chicken soup...I think it says to add it only to hot Water.
  19. Unjury has a starter kit that gives you two packets of each flavor - chocolate splendor, vanilla, strawberry, chicken soup, and unflavored - plus a good thermometer and a blender bottle, for around $20.
  20. I'm in Columbus, GA now, but grew up in Peachtree City.
