1 Year Surgeversary!

Recommended Posts

Hi, my fellow losers!

I can't believe that tomorrow, the 19th of April will be my 1 year anniversary of the sleeve! Last year at exactly this time, I was a mess, worrying about everything that had to do with this surgery. I was getting my band taken out as well, and I was petrified. I prayed that everything would be O.K., just as all of you did. This was my last chance and I was so afraid that it wouldn't work. The one thing that I could hold on to was this site. Thank God for all of you. You said what I needed to hear, and I hope that during this year, I helped some others with their fears and frustrations.

I won't hit my goal weight, but that's ok. I am thrilled that I have lost the amount that I have, and I hope to continue to lose until I reach my goal. I can't tell you how much better I feel, and I know I look better. I can't believe how this sleeve has changed my life. I am so lucky to have had this procedure and not to have gone through it alone.

So, hip, hip, horray!! We did it! Now I have to keep on doing it. The sleeve makes it so much easier. Thanks again, fellow losers.

Love,

Linda

That's so awesome! I go in for my consultation tomorrow & will hopefully have surgery in May. I'm a teeny bit nervous since it is major surgery, but I'm actually really peaceful about it all -- at least for now. I'll probably be a basket case right before surgery! Anyway, congrats on your awesome achievement!

Congratulations!!!

Could you tell us more about how you feel physically? When does this tiredness go away??? Do you have any physical problems from having this surgery? Do you find it hard to get in all your Protein? Fluids?

Sorry to bug you, but if you have time and don't mind, I'd love to hear more.

Congrats on your success! I didn't hit goal at one year, either but it's funny how we aren't as upset about it as we thought we'd be, isn't it? It took me six months to shed the last twenty pounds, so it's definitely attainable if you keep on going.

Enjoy your smaller body, you earned it!

Hi VST Addict,

Happy to answer any questions you have. First of all, I have more energy than I can remember in years. That's not to say that I'm ready to run a race every moment of every day, but on the whole, I can do more activity for a longer period of time. It may not seem like much, but to me it's a great step. As far as diet goes, I eat what everyone else is eating; just less. I drink 1 Protein drink a day in the morning. I don't get all the Fluid down that I had in the beginning of this journey. I try to drink about 3 bottles of Vitamin Water a day, and sometimes a bit more. I try to eat less carbs, but I don't consider them poison, either. This is a way of eating that I am trying to maintain for the rest of my life, and I know me. If I say that I can't eat something, I will want it all the more. So I eat it. Sometimes I just want a taste of something, and that's enough. I was never a fast loser. I know that about myself. So, I don't set myself up for disappointment. If you know your body, and you are feeling very tired, you may not be getting what your body needs from your food. Take a look at how and what you are eating. I take my Protein with my coffee in the morning. It tastes like cafe mocha and I feel as if it sets the tone for the rest of the day. Talk to your nutritionist. We are all on the same journey, but we get there by different routes. Good luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
