Marriott In Tijuana

My wife and I are both getting sleeved on May 15th. I have heard great things about the hospital, doctor and staff, but haven't heard much about the Marriott or things to do in Tijuana. Any suggestions or any feedback on the hotel? Is there anything to do there? Also, my biggest question...Are all the tv shows/stations in Spanish?

When you told people you were having the surgery what was their response? I'm seeing about 50/50. Some are supportive and others tell me I "really should think about it". Lol, that's even before I tell them I'm going to Mexico! I love the looks on their faces when I first tell them I'm going to Mexico!

It's funny that people think that I haven't thought this through and haven't researched having the surgery in Mexico. A co-worker told me yesterday that before I have it I should try AdvoCare or WeightWatchers. I said "please dude. You don't think I've done all that, I'm the king of losing 50 pounds." I can lose 50 pounds with any of those diets. The problem is when I stop, I put on 60.

I know right! Very few people in my life are ok with it! My mother in law refused to watch my son so my husband could go because we would get our heads cut off in Tijuana and my son would not have parents! It kinda irritates me that the people around me would think that I would do anything without extensive research and planning and would not make the right decision for myself and my family! This is a step in the right direction for all of us. I take that back...IT IS A HUGE LEAP! And yes I have gotten the "if you can lose 25 pounds on this preop diet just keep doing it and you can lose it all"! Yes I want to drink Clear liquids for the rest of my life... Until you are morbidly obese you can't judge us...Yes I did this to myself and I am doing something about! YEAH FOR ALL OF US!!!

Hotel is nice n clean. Staff are very accommodating... Don't walk to walmart the day u get released cuz ur still anesthetized n feel grat. You will regret it! Lol.

That's for the advice! When did you have it done?

I have told very few people just because they are mosyly uneducated, and I do not want to hear their ridiculous rants. My aunt, who I asked to go for my support, was very reluctant, even though she was considering this 4 years ago. Now, she and her daughter are going with me. We will all be sleeved the same day. We will be there just before you with a different Dr/facility, but I believe you are in good hands, and I wish you and your wife much success!

Thanks! Good luck to you all too. Having others to go through it with you will be much easier. Like a small support group. Like I said, me and my wife are having it done on the same day, but also my sister had it done in Tulsa ten days ago. So we have that support group also.

People are funny indeed. They think you just decided one day "oh you know I should go to Mexico for surgery" - right!!!!

My mother said to me when I first started on process again - a year ago, "Glenda just diet and exercise", and I said "well that's a new concept" - just because I have lost and gained probably about 600 or more pounds over my lifetime with diet and exercise - maybe I should give it one last shot.....hahahaha!

I enjoyed the Marriott immensely the staff was super great snd super friendly.. I enjoyed every minute of it. And I agree the beds were heaven.. So was the broth and ice pops.. Lol

I haven't booked yet but I know my mom would kick and scream and guilt me till I got on the plane and then send me texts. On the other hand My mom In law has had been through bariatric surgery and 100% me and why I don't wanna tell my mom. My husband supports me in this, he just wants me to be happy and I appreciate that. A good friend of mine from high school is maybe 100 lbs soaking wet. She told me her secret was green tea. Yup! That's the secret for it. She has 3 kids and still her thigh is the size of my wrist.. Irritating. My mom and aunt are such weight watchers freaks it's more like a brain washing cult. I'm ready.

I am with you. It is time for me to make decisions for me and not worry what anyone else thinks. Its my life, my mirror l look in everyday, my clothes I try to shop for and my problem. So I will fix it and surgery is my new saving grace. Amen our new life is coming.
