Anyone Start Out With Low Weight To Lose, Wondering What To Expect..

I started out with a band at 269 lbs, got down to 170 and am currently back up to 200. I'm starting the process of revising to the band but I'll only ("only" lol) have 50 or 60 lbs to lose. I'm reading everyone's amazing stories of weight loss with the sleeve but I'm wondering what I should be hoping for (trying to avoid the word 'expect') as far as weight loss. From what I was told with the band, the less you need to lose the slower it goes and I'm hoping it won't be TOOOOOOO slow. I'm doing the zombie 5K in november and I gotta get back to my jogging weight!

I got sleeved at 208 lbs and was at my goal weight - 145 lbs and about 24 BMI - after about 5 months. I eventually leveled out around 140.

I am 1 year out.... I'm 5'5', weighed 210.5 with 35 BMI. Today I am still 5'5'(lol), weigh 144 and have a 23 BMI, very happy with my weight! I weigh less than my driver's license!!! B)

Im having lap band revision on 5/25. Right now I weigh 184 and Im 5'2 (BMI 33). I have about 50-55 lbs to lose. Im excited and nervous at the same time. Good luck to you!

May I ask why you are revising to the band? I currently have the band and I haven't lost weight in 3 years since the first year I got it. I'm going to the sleeve in the hopes of reaching my goal weight which I was never able to with the band...

I'm just curious because I'm trying to find as much research on the sleeve (both good and bad) before going through with another WLS.

I'm tired of throwing up. I'm tired of not being able to eat in the morning because I'm dehydrated. Have to drink 24 oz of water or a protein shake otherwise I throw everything up all day. I spend more time on liquids then solids. I go for a fill, have ot get unfilled. Get hungry, gain weight. Get a fill, end up overfilled. Eat nothing but ice cream so I can get something down. Gain weight. Get unfilled. Hungry and eat everything. etc etc etc etc etc etc. Tired of it. And I've read a lot of posts here about people who had serious damage done to their bodies by the band. My surgeon's wife just told me today that they went to a seminar and it was said that the band actually slows metabolism after a year or two, which may be why so many ppl with the band gain weight back. I asked if she thought they might stop giving pppl the option of the band and she said no, they'll still offer it but it has lost a LOT of steam now that insurance companies are covering the sleeve now.

Have you checked out the board here for band to sleeve revisions? LOTS of positive info on the process and the outcome.

I'm sorry I got confused by your original post. I thought you said you were going from sleeve to band? That's why I was asking because I, too, am really tired of my band and want to get the sleeve surgery.

No, I have the band now and I'm going to sleeve.
