Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. My doc fully expects that I'll be able to abandon my machine, but my last sleep study says that I haven't improved a ton yet. Of course, I had pneumonia last year and I developed asthma as a result. The doc and I are both waiting anxiously to see if further weight loss improves this issue.

I'm a Registered sleep tech, So I do sleep studies on people for a living. I can tell you, of the repeat patients I have seen who went through WLS, Probably 70% are able to completely go off of CPAP when they reach their goal weight, and the other 30% get significant reductions to their pressure settings, making it much easier to tolerate. It's definatly a good thing!

I have not gone back in and had the sleep study again, but my family complains that they can no longer tell if I'm asleep or not because I rarely snore and if I do it is light. I also no longer gasp for air 10 times a minute. Mine was SEVERE!

I cannot believe I was living like that! I was so sleep deprived that I should have been dead.

I was never able to tolerate the BIPAP. The sleep study was so tortuous to me that I'm afraid to get it done again -- that maybe my family is putting me on and they will try to put that mask on me again. Intellectually I know it won't happen, but I think I've developed a phobia.

My sleep apnea went away after I had a tonsillectomy.

I just found out that I have a mild case of sleep apnea this week. I'm not very happy, so I hope that it goes away. The Pulmonoligist seems to think that it will.

Little bits

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
