Anyone had port revision surgery?

Recommended Posts

My port has flipped and I am going in on Tuesday for port revision surgery. I was just wondering if anyone has had this done and can tell me what to expect and if they felt ok afterwards and were able to go back to work the next day.

Thanks.

... it was very easy.

Much less recovery than the original LapBand surgery.

I think it was a Wednesday morning I was weighed, checked, talked with anestheiologist, tested, and then wheeled in the OR.

I was back out 30 minutes later in the recovery room.

Just over 2 hours later I was walking through a store pushing a shopping cart, and picking up Rx meds for pain (Lortab - nasty stuff so I only took one dose and realized I did not need that junk.) I wasn't groggy, I really felt fine - just some tummy soreness.

I wore an abdominal binder (Spandex/Cotton wrap) from my original surgery.

By that Friday I was back at Happy Hour. (Well I had Soup, and something light.)

I really think it was only a portion of the original surgery - in terms of affect.

Great, that doesn't sound bad at all. Thanks so much for responding and relieving me of my worries.

Depending on the work you do, I would say it is very feasable to say you might be able to go back the next day. I would try to scedule it for like a Friday so I'd have the weekend to recover. I didn't have to take the pain meds, though. It was really easy.

I am the database specialist for a local non-profit agency. So, all I do is sit at my desk all day long and work on the computer. I have a nice comfy chair and my own office, so am hoping going to work the next day will be fine.

2 weeks after my band surgery I had to go back in for port revision. Port busted. Another surgery this year 2006, port broke again. My doctors office told me it "just happens", but then I asked again last week and their response was a little more honest. THey said it can break for many reasons; mostly being the was I eat. So ....now I wonder, did I do something to force the port to break, like throwing up or something. So if anyone else had it done because it "broke" let me know what you know.

THx,

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
