6 Days Out And Pain

Hello. I'm 6 days post op and today I hurt so bad. Every time I take a sip of anything it feels like I have a huge painful gas pocket in my chest. It's miserable. Anyone else feel this way? All I drink are my protein shakes and water.

It will get better, I am 6 weeks out, and when I eat i get gas bubbles and have learned to burp quietly.

you will figure it out

I would say it is normal, because I was the same way. All of the positive comments out there tend to mnimize the fact that this is a major surgery with a fairly significant time needed to recover. All of the pain and discomfort is par for the course. Treat your sleeve with care and don't push it. Stay hydrated. It will improve greatly in a few more days.

I like the weight ticker.

I, too, need to burp after every sip of liquids. I can feel it working it's way up. I am only 3 days postop. I will definately need to learn how to do it quieter, but right now since I am at home, I just let it go. It also helps with the gas from surgery also.

Thank you cmw1000. I hope this gets easier. I couldn't drink all my protein today because of it.

I agree with topgun, you just had an organ removed, you should be in pain, your body needs to rest and heal.

I am 9 days post op and my doc has me on privacid that dissolves on my toungue. I have been on it since day 2 post op because of acid reflux..it helps so much with the pain from the gas....also gas x works great.

I'll have to try the gas strips. I'm on nexium daily. It's all just gas pressure.

my doc said you really can't have too many gas x strips! I'm sure there is a recommendation on the box but my doctor's office made it sound like you could just keep going until the pain stopped.....

I'm five days out and have found that burping frequently helps tremendously. You just have to figure out how to work the bubbles out 
