Trouble Taking In Liquids

Recommended Posts

I'm six days post op and am having real difficulty getting in my liquids. My abdomen feels so full and extended and I can barely take more than a few sips at a time. Even when I can take a sip I almost always have gas pain and end up belching. I'm probably not getting more than 20 oz of fluids in a day.

Any suggestions?

I'm in a similar boat, or was. Today was suddenly a lot better (surgery was Tue last week). I got by on ice chips. For whatever reason they were OODLES easier than Water sips. I was maxing out at less than 1/2 oz Water at a time before I'd have to stop and wait for the discomfort & burps to subside... but I was able to slowly eat an entire glass of ice chips without much break between bites.

Today I've been able to roughly double my previous days' Fluid intake, but I'm still no where close to 64 oz. I'm probably around 30 - 34 oz for the day so far, including what measly Protein I've gotten in.

I'm 8 days post op and have much the same problems. I have been able to hydrate myself lately by keeping Water with me at all times and sipping al the time, discomfort or not. Hydrating yourself is not an option, it is absolutely mandatory that you make it happen or serious consequences will occur. Make it happen!

I am 4 weeks post op and I still feeling like drinking liquids is my #1 top priority of the entire day. I still only get in 40 ounces most days. I felt so great and lost a pound on the day I got in the full 64 ounces.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
