Quick Approval

Recommended Posts

I have BCBS IL...I didn't have to do the 6 mth diet...submittal to ins happens tomorrow..and I was told by the ins comp that they cover it as long as I meet their certain requirements. You might want to see if your employer opted out...I have heard that happens a lot...

Yes, alot of employers select what they cover and the insurance company itself has no say.

Once my coordinator sent my items in this past Monday, I received my approval yesterday!!

So it took 4 days. I have Cigna, but it was my (H) (M) (O) Sharp Community Medical Group that reviewed and approved my surgery!

Can't wait for April 24!!

Yep! Of course the whole Quest for WLS took 9 long months( 6 month supervised diet) plus I had to do the Psych Eval and strangely all my pre op tests done before my surgeon's office would even submit my info to Sharp. I met with my Surgeon only after I finished my diet and Sharp approved a visit with him!He told me I didn't have to deal with Cigna at all, just Sharp. It was so fast!!

Your primary insurance is Cigna? And sharp is what?

Yes, I have Cigna from my employer, and I had to choose an H. M.O. I have had Sharp Rees Stealy for like 12 years, but they gave me lots of grief about WLS, so I parted ways with SRS and joined Sharp Community Medical Group. I love my new PCP, he is the best.

Ok so I just got my military medical takin care of so I have free health care for the next five years so does that mean I can now talk to my medical docs about the procedure or do I need a secondary care plan?

Did you check your policy if it includes WLS??

If it does, make an appointment with your PCP and let him or her know what your goal is.

I had to quit my awesome Doctor of 12 years, cause he has always discouraged me to have WLS. I finally made a wise choice, and switched Doctors, I really like my new PCP, he is really supportive, and if he would have told me no, I would have kept on until I reached my ultimate goal!! It took me 10 months to get here, but it's here, I'm on my 2 week pre op diet and scheduled for the 24th!!

Good luck to you!!

Let us know how your progress goes!!

I have United Healthcare Choice Plus and was approved in 3 days. I did not have to do a 6 month supervised diet either. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought for sure I was going to have issues.:)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
