How Soon Did You Go Back To Work?

Recommended Posts

I don't have alot of time off from work.. i'm planning on going to have the surgery then coming back to work the next day.. is this unrealistic? I hope not... as i'm pushing my luck with time off for the surgery and my son's graduation in the same month.

I'm planning on the same thing. I think it will be fine if you don't do any heavy lifting.

I would recommend an additional 2 days off. It may sound like a lot, but everyone heals differently. My "sleeve sister" was planning on going back the day after she got back, and really need the 2 extra days. It was harder for her to call in sick for the extra time, than it would have been just to let them know in advance. From experience, there's no way on Earth I could have gone back so early. Good luck, I'll pray for you guys.

I was sleeved on March 15th, and actually go back to work this Wednesday. The other guy who was down there being sleeved by me at the same time was going back to work the day after he came home.

I don't know. I honestly have sat here and thought I could be back at work a few days last week, however, I don't know if I would have been able to go back the day after getting home. I was feeling awesome in Mexico and then the plane flight home took a lot out of me for whatever reason. But I definitely think I could have been back at my work by the third day after my return home. But I have a desk job. If you have a job that requires a lot of walking or lifting, I am not sure that's a good idea, I still can't lift heavy things without a twinge.

Aren't you in the hospital two days? Discharged on the 3rd?

I wish I had a sit down job. I am a mail carrier so I am walking, pushing, pulling, standing, and lifting all day long. So I do not plan to go back to work for 6-8 weeks!!!! I am going to enjoy the time off and go back a few pounds lighter!!!!

HEEYYYY!!

But my mother had the gastric bypass and although she sits all day long at home (she is retired) she still finds that she is weak and tires out really quickly. She is four weeks post op. I really don't think that it is realistic but I would just say just go with what your body is telling you

Everyone heals differently. My surgeon recommended 3 weeks. I took 2 and struggled badly when I returned.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
