Need Voices Of Experience- Obsessing Over Mfp

Recommended Posts

I see logging as a way to retrain our faulty thinking. We never learned how to appropriately count how much we were actually ingesting or we would have been a lot less likely to need surgical intervention. I would keep logging. Eventually, you may not need it every day, but it is important to retrain your thinking. Don't step on the scale every day, but take your measurements and keep logging. In my case, I cannot trust myself without my log. Many days I chose not to log and realized I had gone a couple hundred calories over. Just keep up the good work! You will get back to losing soon :)

I don't log my meals on a regular basis; maybe once or twice a month at most. I found it more helpful early on, mostly because I'd think I was eating tons and then when I logged things, it'd end up being like 900 calories, so then I'd know I needed to eat more. Otherwise, these days it just makes me obsess with food. I also start figuring out how much junk I can get away with before my calorie count goes too high, and then I end up eating treats that I may not have even wanted that much in the first place, just because I know I can get away with it. Bad idea!

It does pass! I am 11 months post op and have lost 106 lbs. All of us who have struggled with our weight at some point obsess with the numbers on the scale. If you must check the scale do it only once week. You don't have to weigh in to use fitness pal. Keep at it and stop worrying! Your stress about it may be part of what's keeping your weight from moving.

I can see both sides of the food logging debate. For me, because I'm not doing any Protein supplementation, my biggest reason for logging is to make sure I'm hitting my protein targets daily. I don't worry so much about the calories or carbs . . . within reason, of course.

This makes perfect sense, especially if you are not doing any protein supplements. I have a supplement routine that I adhere to most days so that part of my intake is a no-brainer.

Also, if I stopped losing for a while, I would log to find out what my problem was, for sure.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
