Need Some Encouragement

Recommended Posts

I have reached the point- 3 and 1/2 weeks post op- where I wonder if I did the right thing- will I ever be able to eat any type of normal food again? I mean- I know I will be eating small meals- but right now, I can't eat more than a spoonful or two of cottage cheese or Soup. More than that and I end up vomiting. It almost scares me. Any advice from anyone out there?

The short answer is yes you will! Hang in there! I am almost 7 months out and eat pretty much what I want, focusing on Protein first. I had a leak so I can't eat as much as most people at 7 months but here I am!

I feel your pain. I'm 10 day post op and feel the same way. It's like even when I can eat, it's only going to be a 1/4 cup. I just wonder if I will ever feel normal again. And I have been obsessing about my hair falling out. I already have thin hair. I was not prepared for the emotional aspect of this deal. food has always been a big part of my life and now it's like I've gotten a divorce from it. I know I am not being encouraging, but wanted to let you know you are not alone. And from what I understand, how we feel is normal.

At 5 weeks out I know I did the right thing. I feel full very easily so the nutritionist and doc said to take it slow. I am still on cottage cheese, refried Beans and the like. Sometimes I feel I should be ahead of where I am at. But I know I am where I should be. Remember we do not judge our inside by someone's outside.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones...***knocks on wood*** I am 10 days out and have not thrown up once. I was sick to my stomach the first few days. I have read so many success stories here that from what I have read I can tell you things will get better! Please know that. I can't believe I'm not depressed over the loss of a good friend (food) I do suffer with depression, anxiety and take meds for that, but I've not once felt like I made a horrible choice having this surgery. It's been just the opposite for me. I have felt fantastic for several days. (and that's without my hormone patch) LOL I go for my 2 week post op appointment tomorrow and hope to get that baby back on!! Just know that you have a wonderful support group here. I will keep you in my prayers. Blessings~Melanie:)

Yes you will be able to eat again...it takes time. Right now it's normal to get absolutely full on 1 or 2 spoons of food. It's super difficult to get that at first because we are so use to eating so much. Hang in there.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
