Blood Pressure Post Surgery

Recommended Posts

I'm currently on two blood pressure meds and have been for a year or so. One of my goals is to get OFF the meds once the weight comes off. My blood pressure has never been super bad. The highest ever was like 158/110. Has anyone else kicked the meds to the curb following weight loss?

I think a lot of people lose their bp meds after weight loss. I think you can too!

I've been off my BP meds since surgery. My BP before surgery ran around 160ish over 90/95 while ON meds. Before my release the day after my surgery, my BP was already down to 120/70 and it has pretty much stayed around that since. I was amazed by how quickly it was affected by pre-surgery weight loss and post op. That was my main goal to EVENTUALLY come off the meds. I may not hit my weight goal, but I did hit my main health goal to get off BP med. Cholesterol is a little slower reacting, but its a little lower than before. Dr said that may be mostly genetics. I dont know if everyone that takes something for high BP get off meds, but I sure did and I'm happy about that. Good luck "Cobra"!

I got off shortly after surgery. I was 160/110 without meds and now I'm 120/70 usually without meds and I'm only down about 26 pounds. Been stalled three weeks ugh.

10 days out of surgery I was down to 110/68. (Pre op numbers and in the hospital I was edging up to 156/95 which was super high for me.)

Walgreens offer free blood pressure checks thru the end of Feb. I ran out of bp meds and went to Walgreens to see if I should get a rx refill. I'm 6 weeks out, take 2 meds and yes I need a refill. I'm about 30# down. Maybe soon I can get off the meds.

My bp was averaging 140-150/80-90. I take Lisinopril. Today I went have my stitches removed and my bp was 137/79 without my bp medicine. My weight dropped 15 lbs in 2 weeks. They were excited for me. I had to sit there and tell them my whole Tijuana journey. They scheduled me to go back in a month for bloodwork in order to get me off my meds.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
