I May Have Overestimated How Much I Need To Lose.(?)

Recommended Posts

This started as a reply on another post, but it got me to thinking about it again. Do many of you have to adjust your goal weight? I had it at 160, possibly on down to 150. I am 5'10 and much of my weight is visceral and in my upper arms, like a man. Almost no butt or hips.

I have posted some pics of what I have looked like at various sizes. The last size is a "I dunno/maybe 16". The last pic is of my sister and we are very similar. She is six years younger and no skin surgery required...she is also three inches shorter 5'7" and once my muscle is back up to form she is less muscular. She is 185 lbs.

If you had to go by what I have presented, what would you say?

Me at 279 lbs.

Me at about 271

before 4.23.2011

Me at about 245-238

My dietician set my goal at 75 kgs (165 lbs), thats where I left it and never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would get there or below.

I am now 66 kgs (145 lbs), well under my goal weight. This is too low for me, but have just had plastic surgery and am in recovery. I need to regain a few kgs.

I am happy around the 70 kgs (154 lbs) mark, feel great and thats where would like to stay.

Thomas, thank you!

Minjary, thank you too! Did you have to travel far for your surgery?

Pookey,

I don't know what my adult body looks like at a healthy weight, so I am wondering the same thing. My goal is 150, which is a 23 BMI. Maybe that's too low for an old lady like me. Going by BMI, what weight puts you at 25?

Pookyism - You look great! I would say get to 180 and reassess. You might have heavy bones. I got a bone scan done and found out that my bones weigh more than adverage, so I may need a higher goal weight. You may have that going on too.

I'm aiming for 150 at 5'9 and a medium build. That is what the dietician's calculator thingie says. I think I was last at that weight at age 12 or so... Maybe not even then. I have no idea what I would look like at a healthy weight and it is very overwhelming. I'm very naturally curvy and don;t look like I weigh what I do right now. I'm wondering if I'm also going to have to adjust. I got down to 200 once, and I was a size 14 and looked pretty good. I think 180 would have been great. I guess time will tell. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm afraid I'll get too thin... or get to goal, have my skin fixed and end to too thin. Ugh. LOL the problems you never dreamed you'd have eh?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
