My family and I eat out a lot and thought that it might be good to start a topic devoted specifically to restaurants with great menu items for those of us with sleeves. This is just the first of what I'm sure will be several posts, since we eat all over New York City.

B Bar and Grill

NYC, NY 10003

(East Village)

I had the tuna Niçoise salad. It was a generous portion of beautifully-seared, very rare tuna better than some I've had in high-end sushi places, served on a bed of fresh, lightly-dressed mixed greens. It was topped with thinly-sliced radishes; crisply-blanched, yet tender, young green beans; lots of perfect capers and olives; along with a small potato, a hard-boiled egg, and quartered grape tomatoes.

This is perfect for anyone who's on solids, of course, but it's also great for anyone whose doctor has approved tuna and hard-boiled egg whites, especially since both here are quite soft. I ate half the tuna and a bit of everything else except the potato, and the leftovers made a wonderful lunch today. My husband said his fish and chips were good, and a lot of the other menu items are protein-heavy.

Yesterday was our first time at this place, but it certainly won't be our last!

What are great places you like to go in your area, or in places where you've traveled, and what menu item really stands out?

I thought Pasta was off the menu due to it's lack of Protein? I realize Minestrone Soup is more than just pasta, but it does have a fair share of it.

The minestrone soup I buy has no pasta whatsoever. I believe the Olive Gardens put pasta in theirs.

I like the Pasta fagioli Soup at Olive Garden and just eat around the pasta. It's Beans and hamburger meat and veggies in a savory broth--and a bowl is more than enough for several meals for me, even without eating the pasta!

Even if the minestrone has Pasta, you can take it out. I order meatball sandwhiches and leave off the bread and it looks absolutely beautiful when served. ;)

I jus had white chicken chili for the first time over the weekend. On a spur of the moment I decided to see what the Soup of the day was at the grocery store and that's what they had. It was so yummy!!

Red Lobster is a WLS friendly restaurant. They will let you just order a side of steamed crab legs if you tell the waiter you had WLS surgery. Yum!

I'm on mushies and went to Ruby Tuesday's the other night. I ordered the New Orleans seafood dish and asked them to go easy on the seasoning. I got the mashed cauliflower as a side dish. Naturally, I couldn't eat more than a few bites of the fish, but it was very moist and tender (I didn't eat the shrimp) and it went down really well. The cauliflower--my one bite of it--was also great. I ate leftovers for dinner the next day! We used to eat out 5 nights a week, and it felt just so nice to be out for the evening again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
