my name is jerry, and this is my journey.all this started because of a bad motorcycle accident that happened in aug 20 2009.i was in a coma for 3 weeks, then spent the next 7 months in the hospital/nursing home.i had my femur broken in 10 places, crushed knee, shattered left arm, broken left ankle.due to my injuries i was placed on a 4000 calorie high protien diet,to help heal my injuries.without being able to exercise i gained 140 lbs.i was a fairly large guy to begin with, but the extra weight gain really took its toll.slowly i began to walk, with a walker, then after 18 months i started to use a cane.now i can walk without a cane.but with pain.i have been working out 4 times a week with weights, and 30min a day on a rucumbent bicycle.i have lost 85 lbs.i satarted the sleeve process 10 months ago,and finally got my surgery date feb 22.today i started the pre op diet, consisting of mainly liquids, and soft food.what did everyone else do for their pre op diet, what did you eat? any good ideas would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Hey Jerry, So glad you survived the accident. I am a truck driver and believe me, I have seen hundreds of accidents and the motorcyclists NEVER fair well... you are a lucky man.

I am having my surgery in Feb. also. I wont know the exact day until wednesday...

I have been on a low carb, high Protein diet for 4 months. My pre op diet is only 2 days of liquids.

Hope to see you on the losers bench.

Wow!! You've had a long road, but were very lucky to survive the accident!

As for pre-op diet, eat what your surgeon tells you to eat. Everyone's diet seems to be different. Mine was liquids only for two weeks, but I've seen tons of variations.

Maybe once you have the surgeon's guidelines we can give you specific ideas for each category. :)

Good luck!!

Jerry, I feel your pain. I wrecked in Jan 2009, broke right femur, tore my right knee all to pieces,(ended up having it replaced) split my right shin bone, broke both bones in left wrist. We are truly the lucky ones to have survived a motorcycle accident. I too gained quite a bit of weight after the accident due to inactivity. I had my sleeve on Nov 15, 2011 and already I can tell the difference in how my body is feeling (less pain). So welcome to this site, it is a great place to be and you will find that everyone here really is very helpful.

Glad to see you survived. I have a 2007 Ultra Classic that I totalled last July. I faired okay but my wife broke her tailbone. She's okay now but could barely walk for a month. I can only imagine all you have gone though. Hope the sleeve goes well for you and keep us updated on things are going.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
