Pre-op Diet.. How Much Did You Lose?

Recommended Posts

So, the bariatric center I am going through requires a 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery. I have to purchase the kit through the hospital which contains all the Vitamins, Protein etc. My surgery is Feb 13th (I believe... the lady hasn't called me back to triple confirm this on my part haha) Either way I am starting today on eating healthier and working out. I figure why not get a kick start on some weight loss pre-op. But I am wondering for those of you that had a 2 week diet how much did you lose?

This is a tough qestion for people to answer because pre-op diets (if they even had one) vary all over the board on structure and length. I lost 17 pounds on my pre-op diet, but it lasted 3 months.

I had a 2 week preop diet and lost 15 pounds. My surgeon said that he could tell that I followed my diet and my surgery was only 40 minutes.

It's tough...but worth it!

My date is the 13th of February too! I will be doing the 2 weeks liquids as well. I started going to the gym again with my husband after Christmas, because the better shape we're in, the quicker/better the healing. I also planned to start eating better in preparation, but that part has been a bit harder. :s

I am on day 4 of two Protein Shakes and a lean and green dinner and I am down 6.4lbs. Only 11 days to go and I will officially be a sleevie!!! Yippee!!!!! Btw, found a new Protein Drink today and it's awesome. Its called Premier Protein and you buy it premade from wholesale stores like Sams or Costco!! They have no aftertaste like some I have tried. Message me if your surgery date is around the 20th so I have some buddies to lose with!! Good luck to everyone!!!

I got my info packet from the surgeon's office yesterday and I only have to do a three day total liquid diet. I am soooo glad, I don't know if I would have been strong enough for two weeks. I'm so excited there are so many of us all heading in around the same time. Yeah for us! I can't wait to start reading all the amazing things you are all doing.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
