What Was Your Post-op Lab Work Schedule?

Recommended Posts

Maybe it was because I had another surgery 2 weeks after my sleeve, but I have not done any lab work. I notice that everyone else has tons of follow-ups and blood work. So, what was your post-op schedule like for labs, follow-ups, NUT etc.? I'm starting to worry a bit sad.png

WLS only do blood work l year post op. However, I emailed my PCP and asked if I could do a blood panel and he put in a request. Everything had improved and my LDL were 102 where target was 100. Loved the results. I was about 8 to 9 weeks out. ;)

My surgeon does blood work every three months for the first year I think it is. I did my 3 months blood work and it was fine except for low Vitamin D. They prescribed me 50,000 iu of vit. d. I am going for my 6 month visit on Feb 10 and I have to have my blood drawn one week before the visit so we can talk about any deficiencies. So in about a month I will have my second blood panel done. He checks everything!!!!

Also, I started a running program and thought I would go to my pcp for a regular physical since my insurance covers it with no copay and it covers regular bloodwork like cholesterol, liver function, thyroid, etc. They also did my pap and mammogram too for free. I had all that done yesterday so we will see what my "regular" bloodwork says. Im excited to see if my cholesterol is down and how much. I have severe asthma but was given an inhaler so I can jog. Yay! side note... I have been really cold lately but my blood pressure runs low and has all my life. Yesterday it was a whopping 80/60! I am barely alive! teehee. My doc says thats fine but I think its really low. Dont know how to raise it and dont really want to except for my extremeties getting so cold.

No bloodwork here, and no mention of when it will be.

I had a one week appt. and have another one at six weeks post op. That's all I am aware of at this point!

Thanks everyone! I guess I was just fixating on those that had lab work, lol!

Maybe it's because I am already over halfway to goal, it feels like I should have had more follow-ups. I am about to buy treadmill so I think I should see my PCP for the A-Ok.

My pcp decided to do blood panel because I'm cold and because I'm losing my hair...he wants to be sure its not due to my thyroid meds being out of whack. So I will have a bt in feb

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
