Any Otc Meds To Avoid? Sick, Please Help :(

Recommended Posts

I would've called my dr office, but didn't feel this bad earlier. I'm about 5 weeks post op, and feeling like I'm coming down with a cold. My head is killing me and I'm all stuffed up. I would like to take something, but I can't remember if there were any meds to avoid. Can anyone tell me what not to take? Please!

Try to avoid cough syrups with alcohol. Oh and no meds with aspirin or anti inflammatory medications. If your not sure, you can ask a pharmacist and they will know.

I am 3 weeks out and have had a terrible cold for the past 5 days.. I used Vicks rub to clear my head when I slept ( or tried to sleep at night) and regular cough med with only tylenol in it. Being sick kind of made me NOT eat as much as I'm supposed to but I forced myself to keep up with the fluids.. I'm feeeling better now.. you will too soon.. Keep the FLUIDS going in! take care

Thanks, LGoz, I didn't even think about vicks! I feel so bad I didn't want to leave the house once I got home, so I was trying to take something I already have. I only have ibuprofen. I was even contemplating leftover pain meds, but didnt want to wake up late for work. That stuff knocks me out. I'm almost positive I have vicks. I will use that for tonight until tomorrow when I get some tylenol/cough Syrup. Off to search my cabinets!

Tylenol also make a cold product and an allergy product that both are pretty effective.

Stay away from Advil, Aleve, and aspirin - all of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Drinking something warm will help your throat - tea, lemonaide, broth, etc. Warm showers seem to make me feel better, too.

Hope you beat this soon. KEEP HYDRATED!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
