Why Don't I See It Yet?

Recommended Posts

Today makes 1 week since my 12/28 surgery. Post op I weighed in at 255. The day of surgery I was at 240 and today I am at 231. I have never lost 24 lbs in two weeks and of that I am really grateful. I know that it will take a while for me to see it in the mirror but I thought with almost 25lbs off- I would see a difference in my pants, shirts, bra... At this point, I would be happy to see a difference in the way my socks fit. But even my clothes seem to fit the same.

funny, I felt the same way...i even hung up a pair of old jeans as a "target" to tell when my clothes were fitting better...i ended up overshooting my target, and had to finally break down and buy a new pair of jeans!! it happens!! just keep plugging away, at least thats what I am trying to do!!

CONGRATS on your progress!!

I did not see a difference in my clothing until I lost around 60 pounds. Be patient and keep doing the right things. It will happen.

I didn't really see a difference until I had dropped around 60 pounds--I mean, my clothes got a bit looser, but visually, it took a lot longer. It will happen, don't worry---you have a long ways to go in your exciting journey! Celebrate every pound GONE!

Interesting how all our bodies are so different. Since surgery I've lost 18 pounds.. but its been two months and I feel like I should be losing more. However. everyone says they see the loss in my face, and I've dropped a pant size.. and these new pants are fitting lose. So I see it in the measurements and not on the scale. Hang in there!! 25 pound loss is a GREAT loss

Its strange but the first place that I noticed a difference is my hands and feet. I have lost 29.5 pounds now and have started seeing the difference in my body.

At a week out I was still swollen a bit. That may have something to do with it????

I'm just about 30 lbs down and I'm having a hard time seeing it too. I mean, yeah, my pants are fitting a little looser, but every night after my shower I stand in the bathroom and study my face looking for change. Maybe it's so subtle that I don't notice it day to day? The real test will be when I go back to work... these people haven't seen me since Thanksgiving so the change should be pretty obvious to them.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I keep having to remind myself that I didn't become a fat girl overnight--- so I'm not gonna lose it in one night either.

I mirror everyone else's sentiments on this issue. I mean, I see some change when I look in the mirror, but in no way does it add up to 30 lb. weight loss of change! As a matter of fact, I remember being the exact same weight that I am right now and feel that I looked much thinner when I was this weight in the past. However, I trust the scale and my surgeon who is very pleased with my progress! So, I just try to focus on the fact that I am moving swiftly by numbers in the right direction and Celebrate that victory!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
