February 2012 Surgery Dates- Who's Ready?

When is your surgery? How are you feeling? Who's your doc? My surgery date is 2/13/12 and I fluctuate from ready to go, to really nervous. I'm traveling to Texas to Dr. David Kim. Anyone else using him? :welcome:

Has anyone tried the New Whey Protein 42G of protein shots? it is whey isolate and it is tough to get down. Just wondering if anyone has tried watering it down or anything to make it more appetizing?

Yes, I have tried it watered down. It is a lot more tolerable that way. Take your water bottle (20 or 24 oz.) pour half of it in the bottle and then fill the bottle the rest of the way with a complimentary flavor of crystal light or Gatorade G2 or Poweraide zero. This kills two birds with one stone; you get 22-24 oz of fluid + 21 grams of protein. It takes some getting used to, but it is doable.

Surgery Feb. 1. Feeling great except for bouts of burping. Husband has lost 54 and I have lost 35. Awesome!! I slipped on my wedding ring I have not worn for years and it fit!

OMG 40 lbs in 22 days good for you. Seems like everyone is doing really well!!!

Great to hear!!!

I am getting sick of broth, Jello and popsicles.

That does include my pre op liquid diet, which I count, because I would not have been on the liquids were it not for the surgery. :)

Congrats to the two of you!! And what an awesome feeling it must be to have that ring on! :)

I tried that 42g Protein shot before surgery and it was the WORST! Tasted like cough medicine...My surgeon said we can only absorb about 25 g at a time anyway, so I switched to a 24 or 26g version that isn't quite as bad. I'm 25 days out now, and am finding that I'm afraid to eat. I feel pretty good, but it's hard to really know when I'm full, so I often end up eating less than I probably could. Having trouble getting the 70g of protein without those little shots since I'm not eating meat yet, but once I can get some fish in (next week), I should probably be fine. Some trouble with liquids too, but I attribute a lot of that to having to wait an hour after I eat to drink--there just aren't enough hours in the day! :) Glad to hear others are doing well!

Thanks for the tricks with new whey protein. I will try them! So glad everyone is doing well (and fitting into wedding rings)!!!!!!

Let's keep checking! I m only 1 wk post op and reading about all this success has me so pumped up. Thanks for sharing and let's keep each other motivated.

Reading all these uplifting entries, I've stopped a moment to re-evaluate. 320-290=30 lbs in six weeks. Not a bad thing. Still working at that 64 ounce of water a day. Keep up the good work my friends. It does work if we work at the directions given to us. yah-hooooo!

I KNOW!! What's up with the banana porn????

I also got mine done on 02/28 at Kennedy stratford but I used dr gandsas.
