Pre-band Eating Like Crazy!!!

Recommended Posts

My crazy food fest has been going strong for like 3 months! I've been terrible! Tonight I had potato chips with onion dip, a bunch of oreos and a personal pizza. OK, the thing is, I don't even LIKE processed food like that. It's like I'm just doing it to have the forbidden fruit or something. I know that soon enough I'll be in liquid Land and I can look back fondly at my indulging.

Oh my goodness!!! I am RIGHT in the middle of this too! I don't have a surgery date yet or insurance approval!! But as soon as I decided to have this done I have been on a crazy eating fest. I had my pre-op surgeon visit a week ago, my psych evaluation was this afternoon. The dr office said they will be sending out my insurance letter when they get my psych results which should be next week. They said once I get the approval I can set a date....I figured at that time I would buckle down. I think I'm just trying to get this out of my system....knowing I won't be able to swallow McD's french fries and krispy kremes....

Good Luck Clovermeg! i didn't need a psych exam, maybe they should have checked me considering the way i'm chowing down!:hungry:

Now that I know what is happening to me, I just have to figure out how to buckle down. Funny how that Jewish Carpenter pushes you around!!!

Me too, Me too!

I'm having surgery August 16 and suddenly in the last two days I can't stop eating! I had my pre-op nutriton consult on Wednesday and had lost 7 pounds. (I need to lose 13 before surgery or "no go" ). I must have gotten over-confident when the nutritionist said that I'd have no problem losing the rest in the two weeks liquid diet prior to surgery. That's all I needed to hear - I've been an eating machine ever since. It's made me quite despondent. I'm scared to death now that I've gained all the weight back and that they won't let me have the surgery. Isn't that silly?

I think I came to this board just in time to pull myself up. Whoa Nellie!

Hey Diva Girl! You're not alone, we are in the same boat! Don't give up, every morning I am going to try again! Of course, I won't have a choice when I have to do the two weeks of Optifast!! Soon we will be banded and happy!

I did the same thing, and gained 10 lbs. Then I had to spend the 3 days prior to surgery on a semi fast when I learned that if I gained too much they would not do the surgery! It's about the liver being too big.

So slow it down so you don't show up the morning of surgery to find out it's off, remember you WILL be able to eat after this, believe me.

I wanted to share this with anyone who is in need of a really good tasting Protein Shake. I just received my samples and tried the chocolate one and let me tell you it's great. I thougth since you have to go on a liquid diet before surgery, you may want to try this. It's so tasty that I want to make another one and drink it again. I am going to try to drink this for Breakfast and lunch. Maybe I too can stop being an eating machine. So far it's quenched my sweet tooth and I don't want to eat anything. I plan on ordering this.

I went on an alcohol and eating feast the first two weeks after learning that I was going to have lap-band. It was just to clean out the frig and wet bar -- great that this happen at St. Patrick's Day.

Since March 18th, I've been sticking to Protein drinks and one balanced dinner. No alcohol, no sodas, no red meat, almost no bread -- the killer was no ice cream.

AND I still have to get down to a BMI of 40 or 327 lbs before Memorial Bariatric Center will perform the lap-band surgery.

Stay focused on the goal.

I started my pre-op diet a month before I had to just in case I could't lose as much as I needed to in 2 weeks (I know my history!). I relied heavily on Protein shakes (3/day) and experimented with the foods I would need to eat after banding. Stocked my "personal pantry" with "my" foods, stayed busy doing all that as well as studying the boards and literature. Make sure you've got some Protein Shakes you love and practice with the various shake recipes. It helps keep you satisfied, keeps you from missing sweets, and keeps your energy level up.

Best wishes!!

That is an excellent idea!!!!! I think I will do that too!

I haven't been eating like crazy but I did have a moment with a Drake's Ding Dong...hadn't had one since high school......ate it...ewww they don't make them like they used to ....I was contemplaing trying a Twinkie again but after the Ding Dong ---I pass!:faint:

I did kind of pig out when I got my surgery date, but it was a mo. down the road at the time. I knew I only needed to be on Carnation Instant Breakfast for 7 days before surgery and in that time I lost 10 lbs.....but OMG it was tough. I slipped in some broth and hot tea because I couldn't stand the thought of anymore milk drinks. I ordered some Isopure on line and it is wonderful. I hope everyone's surgery goes as well as mine did.... I have to say at my age of 64 I expected some problems, but I'm losing weight and I'm feeling great (sans some real knee pain from a knee surgery the week before). This was so worth the wait and I had a long weight as I had 5-way-bypass surgery 5 years ago and needed all kinds of clearance. I went through 2 surgeries and simply warned them NO MORPHINE or I will get sick. This was complied with and I received Demerol which did the trick. Back out of recovery and in my room I was immediately switched to Lortar elixer which did the job also. I was up and around (as well as you can be with one bad knee) and everyday is better than the day before.

I'm glad this forum is here, because who knows what is to come down the road when I get my first fill......it could make a world of difference in how I feel right now and things might not be quite so rosy. For now I'm unfilled and losing and fill up quickly. I take heart medication which can't be crushed and the dr. wanted me to just take them and wash them down good with Water....so far so good. I have no problems with the pills.

Good luck to all of you and I hope your journey is as wonderful as mine.

I was on the ultimate pig-out before surgery. I went to Ecuador and ate like a pig for 8 days. Came home 10 days before surgery and was suppose to do 2 shakes and 1 small meal for two weeks prior to surgery. I think I managed that about 3 days out of the 10.

I have also had pig out sessions since but only a bandster could call these pig outs. for example, I just got a box of food from a friend in the US. I ate two potato chips (not 2 bags, 2 chips) and a miniature twix bar. Now thats a pig out for me these days.

I have been eating and drinking alot the last week and just noticed my scale is up 1.5 pounds. I'm coming back to the US in 3 1/2 weeks and I want to be 145 then so I'm gonna get dedicated again. Then, I will pig-out bandster style for 2 weeks - I miss US food......Celeste

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
