Hi everyone!

My name is Nancy. I am 40 years old. BMI is 30. I am 5'6" and weigh 218 (well, before my pre-op diet). Now I am at 213. I thought for sure I'd lose more than that especially since I was totally faithful to the liquid diet. I hope I have better results after the procedure, which is TOMORROW!

I am a bit nervous, which is the whole reason I wound up here. I was seeing if anyone had any regrets. I'm having the "what the hell are you doing?" talk with myself right now. I know in the end I will be happier and healthier. It's last minute jitters Surgery is scheduled for 8:00 am. I am 2nd one of the day.

I just wanted to drop in and say hello and introduce myself because I know I'll be back in here soon!

I had my sleeve on 11-2-11 and have had no regrets. I started at 203 and am at 168.5! I lost ten on my pre-op full liquid since I was so hypertensive. I no longer have sleep apnea and am off my cholesterol meds! I have not had any trouble eating any and all types of food. I will caution you to eat SLOW!! I have had a few episodes where I ate to quick and had intense pressure in my chest that felt like the food was stuck. It went away in about twenty min but it was scary. You will love it! I'm amazed at your quick weight loss Lorrie! Congrats! I just hope my goes as smoothly as yours and I shed the pounds as quickly. I have thyroid issues as well (lack of one) and I always fear it's going to have a negative affect on the whole procedure. I am keeping my hopes up and having a positive attitude.

Hi Nance, and welcome, we are excited to have you here with us. What you are feeling is 100% natural, I think we all had that moment of panic just before our surgery. We kind of go into mourning, thinking we will never be able to eat the things we love again, we worry about possible side effects and every other scary thought that goes through our minds before any type of surgery. But you know what, it will be okay. You will do great and you will be thrilled with the results. You will still be able to treat yourself to your favorite foods, you will be healthier and feel so amazing that you will never regret having this surgery.

in my experience so far, its not easy! im praying that itsworth it at the end. i figured out a way to get out of bed by myself without much pain. my incisions still hurt. i wish i could fast fwd this part. i hold liquids down ok. Protein shakes make mesick so i havent had any...

SUPPORT is needed! u need ppl supporting you, not just virtual. i fell into a depression because most of my friends went mia all of a sudden, holidays, surgery, ex boyfriend, everything! itshard but im coping!!!

i dont regret my decision as of yet but i do wish i wouldve waited a few weeks so that the holidays wouldnt feel how they do. other than that, all is well.

after surgery, i felt no pain! only a severe dry mouth that wouldnt go away. a sore throat that didnt hurt that bad & thats it!

Awww, I'm sorry to hear you've had such a hard emotional time. I totally agree with having a good support system. I am very lucky in that sense. My husband, immediately family and friends are super supportive.

The liquid diet during the holidays has been a HUGE test for me, but I did it! My mom had us over for Christmas dinner and while everyone else had steak, baked potato, and Pasta salad, she made me sugar free Jello and chicken broth along with my shake. My husband is amazing. One day we were at a relatives house and they had all this delicious food that he was eating right next to me. It smelled amazing! He looked at me and the look on my face must have said it all. He asked me if I wanted him to go into the kitchen to eat. I laughed and told him it was ok. I just kept telling myself that food is just fuel for my body, not an event and I would be better off by not eating those foods right now.

My friends have already committed to eating healthier and exercising more with me. I hope I can inspire them to keep at it.

I hope that your support system gets better and that you're able to get through all of this ok.

then youre going to do greeeeat! i had no pain after surgery. just a little sore. bring mouth wash for the dry mouth & all else will fall into place!

Everyone has worn your shoes. When I got to the hospital, I was totally freaking out. i stayed and had the surgery and have no regrets.... especially when i feel better and can get into a smaller size cloths. I'm learning to eat differently now, taking bites slower, using a small saucer plate, and not drinking with my meals. Congrats! Can't wait to hear how your doing.....please keep us up to date.
