  1. Yay, that is fabulous news! I love hearing when people are doing so well. Now, you have me curious, what is hydro-therapy?

    It's going to happen

Looks like things are moving along, that is wonderful. It will be worth it in the end. In the meantime, you can spend lots of time learning as much as you can about your upcoming life change and being well prepared.

    Alcohol after WLS

Wow, this is a tough one for me to respond to, but, I am going to be honest. It can be a very slippery slope. As many have already said, I too became a total lightweight after surgery. But, my real problem came in that I began substituting alcohol, White Russians, to be exact, as my choice of "comfort" instead of food. Unfortunately, that led to some major weight gain for me, nearly 40 pounds, which I am now working very hard to take back off. At six years out, it doesn't come off as easily as it did in the beginning. I am lucky now to lose a pound a week, which is quite frustrating. Now, I am drinking mostly Water 24/7. I will have an occasional drink, but for me, I have learned it is just not worth it.

I use the app called "Water Tracker" on Android. Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App

    Silly question

I'm so jealous of those of you who don't have the strange noises anymore! I am six years out and have all kinds of crazy sounds in there. And, of course, my totally obnoxious and loud hiccough that notifies me I have officially had enough to eat. ???? Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App

    I hate these vitamins

Many people have had success with the Patches. And, for those of us who have had WLS, they are much easier than trying to swallow or chew large pills. Have you looked at the patches we offer in our store? https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/bariatric-Vitamins The best way to determine if they are effective for you is by having blood work.

    Anyone eat hummus?

Cedar's Garlic Lovers Hommus (yep, that is how they spell it) is amazing. I eat it with all small amount of measured out pita chips or vegetable chips for a nice afternoon snack. Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App

    Vitamin patch

I have heard primarily good feedback. One good way to check is to have your bloodwork done before starting and again a few months later. We have many options available in our online store: https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/bariatric-vitamins/suitable-for_gastric-sleeve Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App

  11. I agree with KristenLe, you should be checked out by a doctor. Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App
  12. The pre-op diet can be so rough, I honestly believe the first three days are the worst. Once you get past the initial headache phase, it gets so much easier. You just have to keep reminding yourself what the reward is for following the pre-op diet. If you find that you are really hungry and just need something, call your doctor. Sometimes they may allow you something like a small piece of chicken breast. But I would only do that on your own personal doctor's recommendation.
  13. Ouch, I hurt just looking at that picture! My guy would have totally passed out if he saw it, he is such a wimp when it comes to needles. Glad you are done with it and one step closer!

    Go away head hunger?

Like you said in your title, it is more head hunger than physical hunger. Keep reminding yourself why you had this surgery to begin with, to be healthier. You cannot do that if you succumb to head hunger, especially at only two days out! Try and distract yourself, read a book, watch a movie. If you are in the car, maybe play a game of "I spy" with someone else in the vehicle with you, anything to get your mind off of food.
  15. Hi, are you currently on your pre-op or post-op diet?

    From 455 to 198 lbs

Wow, congratulations on such a great achievement. You are definitely living proof that this surgery is life-changing!

    Helpful Pampering

I love that, and agree we should pamper ourselves. One thing I have never done, but am seriously considering, is getting a massage. Actually, there is a place near me that specializes in foot therapy massage, and I think I am going to "reward" myself with giving it a try.
  18. @@LipstickLady you have always managed to bring a smile to me face, and continue to do so. I love your style!
  19. Brenda, kudos to you for recommitting. Don't hate yourself, it happens to many, including myself. I am sure you have heard this before, but weight loss surgery is a tool, not a magical cure. During the "honeymoon" phase, we tend to forget that because the weight just seems to melt off. But, for long-term, sustainable results, we need to really learn proper nutrition and healthy eating habits. I live with a certified nutritionist, and still didn't get that part! I gained back 50 pounds. But, now, with following proper, healthy eating habits and tracking every single bite that goes in my mouth, I too am back on track. I get the part about the clear head, calm and being in control again. It is really a great feeling, isn't it? You can do this. We can do this, especially with the wonderful support from our friends here on BariatricPal.

    Any Florida Sleevers?

Not to far from Not too far, I am in Yalaha, but I will just say Leesburg since most people don't have a clue where Yalaha is.

    Revision Advice (help)

I was a band to sleeve revision. I never had issues with acid prior to getting sleeved, but unfortunately, have been one of the unlucky ones to develop major acid issues post-sleeve. My doctors have tried everything, but nothing has worked. Thus, I am now looking at revising to bypass.

    Getting there!

I never was required to have a sleep study either, but then again, I was self pay. Let us know how it goes.
  23. Skin changes after surgery isn't unusual. Are you on a good bariatric vitamin? Sometimes just being on the right vitamins will make a huge difference.

    The BIG picture

@@DaisyAmy, never, ever be disappointed or allow yourself to feel "down" about slow progress! First off, and I am sure you have heard this before, everyone's body responds differently to weight loss surgery, and everyone loses at a different pace. It's okay, what is important is that while you may not see the changes on the scale as quickly as you like, you are making progress in terms of better, healthier eating habits and, as you mentioned, your health is improving! Congrats on no longer having fatty liver issues or diabetes! That is fabulous news!

    Any Florida Sleevers?

I remember waiting for my surgery date, so exciting! Now is a good time to be really educating yourself, and joining BP is a great step towards doing that. I look forward to following your progress.
