Strange Discomfort When Eating. 9 Months Out

Recommended Posts

Never had any problems before, didn't need a ppi but the past few days when I'm eating I get a small pain. Not even pain, just a discomfort when eating. Any type of food. All I can describe is like a churning sensation kind of between breasts and stomach. I'm trying not to freak out beacuse I'm on holiday in thailand but the more I think about it the more worried I get!

Has anyone else had anything similar. Could it be acid I've never had it before? Gas? Could I have caused a hole?

Would appreciate any advice!

I am 5 months and have that same feeling. Goes away if I don't eat for a few hours but as soon as I do eat it comes back.

I am attributing it to some phase and need to eat less for awhile, get in more salad or something to help with digestion.

Thanks for quick reply Thomas. Glad someone is in same boat. Will try eating some salad too. Surely it couldn't be something serious when we are so far out with no previous problems?

Please keep me updated!

Both a stricture and a bezoar are obstructive and an ulcer is unlikely. Are you vomiting solids? Are your bowel movements normal in color and consistency?

I don't think there is any need to freak out; I think you need to try 1) something like Pepcid or Tagamet, which will give you relief if it's acid-related. If it helps, then switch to a PPI like omeprazole for longer-lasting relief. 2) cutting down on fatty food, which will help if it's gallbladder-related 3) deep breathing, which will help with your anxiety smile.png . I am sure it is nothing serious this far out, but naturally, see a doctor if symptoms worsen or if you get too anxious.

Thank you foxbins. No vomiting or different bowel colour\movements just slight churning pain when eating

liquids fine just food causing funny feeling

Have started omperazole & took gaviscone after light dinner which seemed to help, I think

Will take your other advice as well, thanks for posting! As I've never had acid before I'm not sure if its just that or not!.

Foxbins advice is right on point. The only other thing you might try is a GASX dissolving strip when you are experiencing the issue. I use them off and on. Your symptoms sound like acid to me. Although since you are female and have lost a bunch of weight, you are a prime candidate for gallbladder problems. I think if it was gallbladder, you would get a more severe signal. When my gallbladder issues arose after rapid weight loss - it wasn't churning, it was definate pain.

Hope you get it resolved - you are doing great with your sleeve - <5 pounds to go! YEA for you!

I am thinking gallstones too......that is RIGHT where mine hurt. You better stay away from SALADS or meats or anything with fat until you figure it out. If it is gallstones it will hurt worse right after you eat ......when the gallbladder tries to dump the bile.....Also....I noticed with mine if I pushed with my hand where it hurt it went away a little.....I think I was moving the stone away when I pushed? Hurts WAY worse than having a baby!!!!

HUGS!!! Hope you figure it out!!!

Could possibly be spicy food as well. I see you are on vacation in Thailand....just a thought. Especially if you don't usually eat that type of thing.

Living the dream,

Thanks everyone. The omeprazole seems to be working and I havnt been eating any spicy food and eating very slowly. I think I had a way too spicy curry one night, also been drinking alcohol which I rarely do. Just got a bit of a fright because I'm so far from home. Merry Christmas to you all!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
