Capt Derel's Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey

Recommended Posts

Well this is as close as I can get to my 6 month surgeraversary because I go back to work in 2 days. 216.8 lbs. We are figuring as of right now I am carrying +\- 20lbs of excess skin but I am going to allow some time before I take the next step of removal.

Oh I did start taking B12 injections. Appetite increased not mentally but rather physically. I noticed that the knot in my stomach after each meal went away faster allowing me to eat more meals per day. Verifying that B12 stimulates appetite like I already knew before.

Fats...1 Avacado almost brought me to the emergency room. It Triggered a gallbladder attack making it number 3. They still only last 4 hours but its a horriffic 4 hours lol. I will continue to keep an eye on its activity. Hopefully I can keep it at bay until next year when I remove my excess skin.

Thats it for now. Have a good one

You look amazing! Be careful with the gallbladder. Putting off my surgery landed me in the hospital with pancreatitis :(

Ahhh yes.... reminds me of my $125 piece of pizza in "ought two." (EMG room visit. They give you GREAT drugs for a gall bladder attack ;) Take care of yourself.

Well I went to the Doctor because I thought I was having gall bladder issues. I was correct. They found 3 small stones and they want to operate. I told them that I want to hold off until after the new year if I can. But if I have an infection and I need emergency surgery I will go through with it.

Sucks, but I dont think that I will have to much more rapid weightloss so I hope they wont grow anymore so I can wait until I go back and do my tuck. I will just play it by ear.

I had a pain that originated 2" above my belly button and moved directly to the right side about 2" away from the rib cage . Coincidently that is right by your gallbladder which is located directly underneath the ribcage. I had 4 "attacks" total, 3 of which happened within days of each other. My doc said it was a flair up. I notice that it does happen when I break plateaus and eat a little too much fats like an avacado.

Pain was exactly the same each time. 2 alieve and 2-3 gas x strips subdue the pain. I have been trying to trigger an attack but I cannot. I am trying to figure out what exactly triggers it so that I can steer clear of it.

Small price to pay for what I done in the past.

Fat always triggered mine. Not every time at first. The attacks were spread out by months, then at the end, they happened every time I ate so much as a gram of fat. (or so it seemed). It felt like I was being stabbed below the sternum with a very large dagger and said dagger was being twisted continuously. It is a pain that FAR surpasses childbirth. ("IMO") Throwing up usually stopped it, but again....not near the end. NOTHING helped then. Just surgery. I hope yours don't speed up!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
