Surgical Tape Residue Removal

Recommended Posts

Anyone have suggestions for getting the last of the tape off my skin from all my IVs, catheters, etc. ?

I'm finding it in strange places -- like my left armpit -- and it's attracting lint and turning black, and is really annoying me.

Regular soap-and-Water scrubbing isn't cutting it. Also I have sensitive skin so I don't want to use some kind of chemical unless I know it will work.

Same thing happened to me and it lasted for weeks... just wouldn't come off. I tried everything from alcohol pads to acetone (nail polish remover) to goo gone! In the end, the only way for me to get it off was to keep scrubbing it in the shower and as soon as I got out (and was still warm) tried rolling it into a clump and picking it off slowly. Good luck! I know it really sucks:(

Try something with oil or lotion.

Try Neutrogena body oil.....that's what I used. It didn't just wipe off though...I had to use my finger nail and kinda work it into the area.

This was really difficult for me as well, especially since I ended up having a bad reaction to the tape... i literally just sat there and picked at it and used whatever I had around (lotion, conditioner, rubbing alcohol, etc) to try to get it off. I was really careful and only used tiny amounts since my skin was already so sensitive, but I had to get it off! Honestly in the end all I did was pick it off and then gently washed my skin after. I actually liked when the lint/etc stuck to it because it made it easier to see and to pull off.

Good luck!

Yeah, that stuff is glue. And not the Elmer's kind. I just left it and eventually it sluffs off with the dead skin. If you don't mind some irritated skin, grab some sandpaper or use your nail. It is designed to stick and does a good job. Medical quality stuff, it is.

I tried everything and it ended up just using soap...again and again and again. It took several weeks of me picking at them in the shower to get it all off.

Good luck!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
