You ladies really know your romace and it paid of for me. HeHe. She actually cried and I told her of all the wonderful things she had supported me through and how I couldn't have done any of it without her. I thank you all for making her night so special.

5McK reacted to Forensikchic in Funny Nsv (for Girls Only)I went for a physical today with my pcp because I am training for a 5K. They did the whole workup, blood, urine, pap smear and later today a mammogram. During the pelvic exam, my doctor said to me, "its a lot easier to check your ovaries now that you are so much thinner"... LOL I never thought about that.. what an nsv for me! Makes even my doctors life easier.
My blood pressure was 80/60... really low. He wasnt concerned though. He said it was good. I was dehydrated but they didnt give me an IV, just told me to get to drinking. I am cleared to keep running now that I have my asthma inhaler. I just feel so much healthier.

5McK got a reaction from kgb in 3 Weeks Out Of Gastric Sleeve Surgery Today And Guess What? Scale Won't Move!Hang in there ladies!!! During my first 8 weeks I stalled TWICE, each lasting 14+ days. I was angry, sad and frustrated....but, I did find that the inches were melting off during that time. Then it was like I hit a groove and lost good numbers after that for the next month. Stick to your program and this will work. You will get through the stall and when you hit goal you will look back and realize that it was just a blip on your radar in the whole scheme of things.
I'm stalled again now, but it could be more holiday related than anything. Darn those family members and their sweets!!!

I am writing tonight because I need to vent a bit about some things i have recently seen and experienced on this forum that seems to be a new trend. I have been on this support forum for the past 5 months and it was the best thing to happen to me after my vsg. Lately I have been attacked and have witnessed people getting attacked on this page and it makes me honestly not want to come on here and post anything at all. I think we are all here for the same reason, to exchange information, to learn more and to SUPPORT each other, not knock each other down and tear each other apart. Can we please get back to what this forum is about because I loved it as it was before....when we helped each other, supported each other and gave each other props.

5McK got a reaction from LilMissDiva Irene in 4$m Lawsuit For Patient Who Died A Few Days After Gastric BypassA very sad story. Each of us takes a risk with this surgery. I hope everyone does their research on hospitals, doctors and possible complications.
I know that I walked away from a surgeon because my gut told me it wasn't a good situation. I waited longer than I could have and drove a hundred miles to the next largest city, to have someone I felt comfortable with perform my VSG. I also explained to my husband and kids that no matter what happened, I was having this surgery for a chance at a longer, healthier life and I choose the situation I was walking into.
I hope this family finds peace.

5McK reacted to IslandGrrl in Do Younger Sleevers Lose More/faster?As someone who lost and was able to keep off over 100 pounds during my 20s and most of my 30s, I can say that in my experience, it has been much harder as I have gotten older. It is my understanding that the metabolism generally slows down with age, so fewer calories are needed to maintain the same weight. That being said, I have been very happy with my progress thus far. It may not be as fast as in my younger days, but it is certainly better than what it was pre-sleeve. For me, it is all a matter of managing my expectations.

5McK reacted to peacequeen in Ashamed of WLS?It's been like I need to get something off my chest around my sisters (I have 6 of them). I had told a couple and it was mixed but I talked to all of them together last night after Thanksgiving dinner and to my surprise they were saying how exciting it is and they are happy for me. They just want me to be healthy. I explained that I had 5 dr recommendations for this surgery and they said it sounded like I was doing the right thing..I'm really excited now that I can share this whole experience with them.

5McK reacted to omamilam in Ashamed of WLS?Most people of average weight do not understand because they haven't walked in your shoes. You do not owe them any explanation for your weight loss. In order not to be rude and answering their question of how you lost so much weight, just tell them this.....with lots of hard work and dedication...........and you won't be a liar.

5McK reacted to wishes in Ashamed of WLS?I am still getting some mean comments about my weight loss and eating habits from friends, so I tend to keep it to myself and those who are supportive of my weight loss efforts. I am not ashamed of my surgery, but I am not a person who likes receiving rude comments either, so until some people can act more mature I don't think they need to know any information like that about me.

5McK reacted to Phoenix Rising in Skinny girl issues...WTH!!!!!I have been reading all the comments and heartily agree with most of them. I must have a little mean streak in me though, as I would hand back any of her clothes that you have got too small for and say with a really big smile on my face...I thought I would return these to you as I am sure you will need them again and I most definately won't!
This 'competition' that she is having, is already won by you, as you know all those pounds lost will never be visiting you again. Congratulations on how far you've come and enjoy every future pound you lose.

5McK reacted to Amanda131 in A My Fitness Pal TestimonialI have been sleeved for over eight months now and have had some phenomenal success. However, as time as gone by, I admit that I have become a bit complacent. Although I exercise quite a bit, I wasn't really watching what I ate at all. My weight loss numbers (or lack there of) was starting to reflect this. I know that the quickest way to get yourself back in line is to write down what you eat. Easier said than done.
My BFF tried the My Fitness Pal app and raved to me about it encouraging me to get an account so we could be "friends" and hold one another accountable. I did it on a lark. OMG- I love it. I have used pen and paper, spark people, Livestrong... you name it. Nothing has been as easy or motivational as My Fitness Pal! I love that it tells me at the end of every day what I will weigh in five weeks if I eat/excercise like this everyday.
But, the proof is ALWAYS in the numbers. I started using this app November 1st. I have lost SEVEN pounds since November 1st. For the last three months, 7-8 pounds was my total loss for the ENTIRE month. I really attribute this seven to the app, too. I find myself wanting to be below my calorie goal and wanting to exercise for the positive reinforcement.
Long story short, if you are struggling and not tracking your food and excercise then I highly encourage you to check out: www.myfitnesspal.com And, if you join, be my friend: akc513 :smile1:

5McK reacted to Soon2BMiniMommy in When does the weight start coming off?`Aw, honey.....you've technically lost 6 pounds in 8 days, right? I think that's fantastic and I bet that's better than any other diet you've been on! Give your body time and patience. It WILL come off. I lost about 12 pounds the first week (surgery 10/20), got to 288, then the last whole week have fluctuated between 288 and 285! Got down to 285 yesterday, then today shot back up to 288???!! What the hell is THAT! How you do gain three pounds in one day only eating about 700 calories! I didn't even do that when I was eating 3000 a day! But I know it's just my body trying to adjust, fluctuating with Water weight, panicking that it will never get a whole meal again, and scared to death that it's starving right now and hanging on to every little fat cell.
One thing you can bet on for sure is that you WILL LOSE WEIGHT! I have not seen one person who had the sleeve who did not lose weight. They might stall, they may gain a few pounds here and there, but overall, we always lose! Hang tight, Sunshine...it'll come. I know it's hard since we're suffering a liquid diet, you'd think we'd at least be rewarded with at least a pound lost a day, but our bodies are fickle little creatures with a ton of overriding responses to starvation!

First Place: My diabeties going into remission, I was on 4 pills a day and bordering on going back on insulin shots to keep it under control.
