What Is Your Favorite Meal After Being Gastric Sleeved?

What is you favorite food since being sleeved? Do you crave the same foods as you did before surgery?

I am a creature of habit eater. I wonder if that will change. I can eat the same cereal , sandwich everyday for a year, wouldn't bother me.

  • I have learned to make crepes with the egg beaters...and I add one or two of the following... cheese, refried beans, cottage cheese, sour cream and hot sauce. It is like a mini bean and cheese burrito

  • Shepherd's Pie, so awesome and has everything you need right in it!

  • my favorite food before and after surgery has been chicken. But since being sleeved, my favorite way of having it has been simply smoked chicken from our local BBQ places. As cheap as buying a chi

Shepherds pie ingredients are ground beef with whatever savory seasoning you like, plus a bit of flour and some guinness from the can, mashed potatoes (i buy the ones already made in the fridge section at Shop Rite), veggies to put in I buy the frozen peas and carrots, or you can do fresh. Top the beef and veggies mixture with the potatoes and top that with low fat shredded cheddar and bake until bubbly

That Shepherd's Pie sounds yummy!! And, it's a good way to sneak in some veggies. I'll have to try it!! :)

Kksinisi....What do you put in your sheperds pie? I am 4 weeks post op and still afraid of popcorn, but wish I could eat it.

Yecats when did you start to eat popcorn?

Sorry, I did not see this earlier. I am not sleeved yet, I meant that I will miss popcorn.

So far.. my fave is 3 turkey Italian meatballs w/ broccoli and some tomato cream sauce!!! YUM!!! I usually have it w/ pasta.. Sleevina doesn't like pasta too well.. I'll let you know how my chopped lamb w/ chipole fresca cheese melt goes tomorrow...

I really like eating chicken tortilla soup w/0 the tortilla. It is so good. I also like baked potato soup with cheese. Recently decided to stop eating the potato soup due to all the pesticides that's in the potato, unless I learn how to make it with organic potatos. Ummmm, I just might do that next week after my basic bootcamp is done. ;)

I am so glad I can still eat spicy food! I was finally feeling "human" again tonight after over a month of being sick with gastrointestinal problems, so we splurged and went to Buffalo Wild Wings. Eating slowly, I was able to eat one mozzarella stick (appetizer), 5 chicken wings (30 grams Protein, woot!) and I picked at a few of my daughter's french fries. Now, mind you, I was extremely full after this and probably overdid it just a bit, but I took my time and enjoyed every bite of it.

Normally at that restaurant I do the naked tenders with side dipping sauce and a small salad, but the celebration tonight was really nice, and a great treat to have for a change.

I'm glad I still like chicken, it's honestly my all-time go-to food. You can't really beat the protein it packs without much fat or calories. I've gotten very creative with how I prepare it, though. smile.png

Hi there :) I saw that you love chicken and you have gotten creative with how you prepare it.. can you give me some tips. Mind you I am not a good cook, and really do not like cooking .. probably because I dont know how to very well though. I am bored with food and its becoming a problem since its causing me to eat out .. no bueno! Thank you :)

Trader Joes has the best Sheperd's Pie in their freezer section. It is made with shredded roast beef not ground beef. It is a 16 oz. box, so you cookit in the microwave and then can divide it into equal 4 oz. portions to eat during the week. Very good and tasty and tastes homemade to me.

My favorite meal is steak with a few bites of my husband's baked potato.

My favorite snack (right before bed) is light string cheese. YUM!!!!

Just popping in to say what a help this thread has been to me! I will be three weeks post-op on Valentine's Day, and am looking so forward to even mushy foods :-) These recipes and suggestions look great. I'm so glad that so many people share on this site!
