  1. Thanks everyone for the kind words, all of you and this forum got me to this point!!
  2. I did experience a bit of hair loss at about 6 months, but it only lasted a short time. And I started with a lot of hair to begin with so I guess it did not affect me as much as it can others.....
  3. Awesome! You put it all into words perfectly!!
  4. Ok, so I finally had a new headshot done for work, and I decided to put it next to the old one, wow! I am very pleased with my progress, I had surgery on November 1, 2011. No looking back, I just wish I had done it sooner! YAY SLEEVE!!
  5. I would ask how far out you are, and also have you had blood tests done yet to test all your levels of all those vitamins and minerals our body needs....You may need more supplementation, or maybe you had surgery recently and really have not fully recovered yet?
  6. I would think caffeine is minimal, I use them all the time too. I love the Arnold Palmer one that is half iced tea half lemonade
  7. My doc actually said I can take Advil (ibuprofen) once a month for menstrual pain.....she said as long as I am not taking it every day that once in a while is fine as long as I am not suffering with any acid reflux. I totally trust my Dr. she is the best, but that being said you must follow your own docs instructions I guess!
  8. I have had lots of those moments, rest assured that there is not 2 lbs. of fat in 2 glasses of sangria. You are only bloated, so just drink lots of water, get your protein in, and you will be fine!! Believe me, I have been there !!
  9. Totally awesome!! You were right about where I was pre-op, and your goal is right about where I want to get as well! You look amazing and truly are an inspiration. I was sleeved Nov. 1, 2011 and have lost 62 lbs. so far...heres to getting to goal!!
  10. I put my protein powder (French vanilla flavor) in my coffee with a dash of flavored creamer, shake it up and it's like a latte! That way I get my jolt of caffeine and protein at the same time.....
  11. Oikos Key Lime is pretty good, but I have tried them ALL and the only one I can tolerate on a regular basis is Chobani. My favorite flavors are Apple Cinnamon, Peach and Black Cherry. I find all the others to taste horrible!!
  12. I had the smell thing too after surgery, it lasted about a month or so. I would literally have to run out of an aisle in a store if there was someone who had the tiniest bit of an odor, and forget about food smells!! It did go away for the most part, I am almost 5 months out now and only experience it occasionally. I could not even be near my own family if they had eaten something with garlic!
  13. Sorry, not buying the posts from Sallynew.....why can't any of her messages get delivered? I would let this string of posts go away.
  14. I drank full caffeine at about 20 days, and continue to do so....My doc and nutritionist both said it is ok. I put my protein powder in it (pure protein french vanilla), shake it up in a shaker and it comes out like a latte. I add a little flavored creamer too. It's delish, and I get my protein in! I am 4 months out and 55lbs. down started with BMI of 40.
  15. I was told by my NUT and surgeon I could drink at 6 weeks out. I waited about 8 weeks, and now I have at least a couple of drinks per week, just like the old me! For me, the lightweight thing is definitely true. All docs say different things, I trust my doctor completely, and I have lost 53 lbs. in 3 months so I guess a few drinks have not hurt the process! Have fun!

I am 3 months out and planning to play over the summer....I hope there are no restrictions that far out? Would love to hear from some golfers. Three weeks out is way too soon, I can tell you that. I feel like I can play now, but it's the middle of winter and I have not been to the driving range....
  17. I am in with the Pure Protein. 20 grams of protein, good taste, big bar.
  18. I always like chili out, very hearty and is full of protein. Or, I will opt for a regular meal and bring the rest home to have for the next two days Such as Chicken Marsala, or a fish dish, anything with protein really. If the dish comes with pasta, I opt for a salad or veggies instead. I find eating out to be really easy actually, easier then eating at home! I have a place I love that does Ahi Tuna as an appetizer or meal. I order the appetizer and still bring half home! Let me know if I can help more....looking at the menu beforehand as was suggested is a great idea as well.
  19. I am still in the obese category, for my height, even after losing 48 lbs. I know it's such a great thing to have lost 48, but until I am out of obese status, I don't feel worthy of too much praise. SOO I guess my brain is really not there yet! I feel great, and sometimes I can't believe I still AM obese considering how good I feel, but that "O" status haunts me and I won't truly feel good until I am at least only "overweight"...
  20. I just tried qdoba the other day and got the kids naked burrito, no rice but loaded up with salsa and chicken. for a little over $3.00 I had two lunches out of it!! DELISH
  21. I am not a Dr, only a patient, but I do not think that decaf coffee would do that to you. Do you take BP meds? It could be a drop in BP, which would need an adjustment to your meds. It's fairly common after this surgery, from what I understand. I am almost 8 weeks out and drink full caff coffee with no issues. I would check in with your Dr. as far a blood pressure goes. Good luck to you!
  22. Shepherds pie ingredients are ground beef with whatever savory seasoning you like, plus a bit of flour and some guinness from the can, mashed potatoes (i buy the ones already made in the fridge section at Shop Rite), veggies to put in I buy the frozen peas and carrots, or you can do fresh. Top the beef and veggies mixture with the potatoes and top that with low fat shredded cheddar and bake until bubbly
  23. Shepherd's Pie, so awesome and has everything you need right in it!
