How Long To Wait To Play Racquetball After Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

How long should I wait until doing something like raquetball? I feel good and have for 2 weeks, but I am 3 weeks and 1 day out from surgery. Just getting bored with the walking/riding bike.

I'd say go for it.. I'm 3 weeks out today, and feel great, I spent the afternoon hiking some pretty intense woods today, no issues. My surgeon said wait 3 weeks, which is today, and then i can resume any activity I wish.

I started up at week three - It may take a couple of weeks to rebuild stamina depending on amount of weight lost. I dropped around 30 pounds in 4 weeks postop and it took me two weeks at gym to get back to a regular 1 hour workout and four weeks to get some of the strength I loss back. I play tennis, used to play racquetball in college, so it took a little while to get through an entire match. But, start back up and build up the stamina. I had to boost caloric intake from 900 to 1,200 to 1,300 to offset the workout and still lost weight.

I played for an hour. 3 pretty good games. Felt good to do something. Wasn't to fatigued, but I was playing before at over 400lbs. LOL I'm down to 345 now, so I felt like a big cat:)

This question is right up my alley. I play tennis a few times a week and had surgery 9 days ago. I am feeling a little weak but fine. Walking is boring. I was thinking of trying out playing tennis next week, but three weeks post-op is more logical than two. My doctor said about a month.

I waited almost a full two months before I played raquetball. The doc told me to wait at least 2 months because of the increased risk of hernias post surgery. I'm a nurse and I didn't want to be the usual 'bad patient' that nurses can be so I waited. I felt like I could have played at a month out with no issues though. lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
