Underweight The Day Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I need some wise words please! I have never been extremely obese, but I got approved at 201lbs and I am 5 2'. I have several comorbidities(sp?) I went into my liquid diet 5 days before surgery, which is actually tomorrow. Now, my dilemma is that I have lost 6lbs, I'm currently 195lbs. Isn't this consider underweight in order to get the surgery done? please help!!! I'm freaking out! now everyone is telling me not to get it done. I'am a nervous rack and having second thoughts!!

My understanding is that if you were approved at a higher weight, then there should be no problem. I'm also a Lightweight and am having surgery Monday and had the same concerns as you but it should be your starting weight that counts.

Good luck and keep us updated.

I think that shouldn't matter if you were already approved. The key is that the sleeve allows you to keep the weight off that you lose, which is were most of us fail without WLS. Don't worry about what others say. This is your journey. If you have other co-morbidities that is even more of a reason you should have the surgery. You health is very important. Good luck! The sleeve is an amazing tool!

I was 200 the day of my surgery and I started at 216,they won't cancel your surgery,They like you lose weight,so it means you follow diet and it gets easier for them to perform your surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
