I used alighterme.com for Dr. Kelly and I had no problems. They were great about answering all my questions and Dr. Kelly is awesome. It was worth every penny, and believe me I had to scrimp to get them. I had no pain and no complications. I couldn't believe I even had surgery. If it wasn't for the incisions I wouldn't have known I'd had anything done. I feel great and they were great to work with.

I feel the same way! I unfortunately have had a nasssty allergic reaction to the surgical glue, so most of my pain right now is my skin trying to recover.

I've had 0 problems tolerating liquids, and I try to drink small sips at a time- sometimes I likely drink more than I should and still have virtually no discomfort. I can't wait to get on my protein!

My coordiantor was Melissa Bracker with Dr. Alamanza. She was great. A couple people had Louise and they were pleased with her too. Dr. Alamanza was wonderful. I had a great experience, even went back to the states a day early. My choice. I've never been out of the US. I would do it all over again if I had too. It was definately the right choice for me. As far as coordinators. I think it makes people more comfortable working with someone within the states. Hey if the dr minded it, he wouldn't use their services. I agree, I want the money to go to the person who saved my life (from obesity) but I felt good working with someone in the US. Especially in the beginning because I was a basket case.

Any questions you can message me.

P.S. I just updated my signature. yay!

FYI.....Trish still coordinates for Dr. Kelly. I had surgery with Dr. Kelly in July and Trish was awesome. I just talked to someone who had surgery with Dr. Kelly last week and Trish took care of them. There are a lot of coordinators to choose from, it is just a matter of who you go through. Trish is an on-site coordinator. She is also a coordinator for Dr. Ponce too. Both are great surgeons and Trish will take care of you, whichever doctor you choose.

Dr. Kelly did my surgery in August this year. I had a follow up call with him today and he confirmed that he is no longer working with Trish as his coordinator. Trish is still employed at the hospital where Dr. Kelly performs his surgeries so there is some crossover in care. Sara is Dr. Kelly's new on-site coordinator.

Trish doesn't work with Dr Jelly he told me this on the phone! I'm not sure who his coordinator is or if he even has one currently

He told me this as well in person.

I think perhaps she no longer works for him personally, but is still a coordinator for him as well as other doctors? Just like Alighterme and other patient coordinators who are more like agents. I was introduced to Sara (in person) as his new personal coordinator.

He may have Sara working for him too, but Trish is still handling patients too. The coordinators are independent contractors. Ask yourself this.....do you really think that Dr. Kelly is going to turn down a patient that Trish brings to him? We all have choice.....if you want to go through Sara then go through Sara.....if you want to go through Trish, then go through Trish. It's that simple. If you are thinking about going through Trish and you want to know if she still offers services when having surgery with Dr. Kelly, then just call her and verify. She can be reached at 661-886-4617 (you can text at that number too) or her office number 619-202-6011. She is also coordinating for Dr. Ponce too.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
