Migraines improving after surgery????

Recommended Posts

I have Migraines and at times come quite frequently. I have been recently insurance approved but haven't scheduled surgery. Since I do not know what triggers them, I am hopeful that after surgery that something will change and either have them very infrequent or not at all. Anyone have any experience with migraines getting better after surgery?

Hiya Mrs SoMiss,

I too was a frequent Migraine sufferer... and yes they have definately got better since my sleeve... I am 14mths post op now and for the first 6mths I didn't get one! I did get a few headaches but I think that was down to low carb.

At the beginning of the year I had a bout of them and they were nasty... at the same time I went to the doc and after bloods done refered to a menopause clinic. I was 39 then - 40 now ...lol - and I am peri menopausal. My Migraines are linked to my hormones and the menopause doc said that the lower my BMI the better for my migraines and the general working of my hormones. That being said, I have had one since March this year... so there is a definate improvement!

Good luck with your sugery and I hope the migraines go!

I do not know the reasoning behind my Migraines but I have reason to believe that they were period related. I would get them so badly that I'd stay in bed for days...

I'm 9 months post op and I have not had ONE Migraine since then. I don't know whether it's related or not. But, I'm thankful.

Ugh, I used to get Migraines 5 days a week!!! post op I feel that they are alot better. I think mine a caused by stress most of the time. I get so tense down my back and neck and head and my breathing gets shallower that I need to focus on this asap to try to calm down. most of the time I don't realize I'm doing it until too late. my doc had me on all kinds of med, topamax, inderal, amitryptaline, etc.... they all helped to a certain extent, and then my migraines would start creeping up again. they are doing botox for me every 3 months now, a ton of injections in the forhead, temples, back of head and neck and shoulders. it seems to help, but it hurts like hell to get it done! we will see. I hope it works out.

To all fellow Migraine sufferers.... don't you just HATE the people who never get headaches?! lol

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
