I have the 10 cc band (which my doc regularly fills to 14+). I had 4 ccs from surgery. First fill took me to 6.2 and I felt NOTHING. My second fill took me to 7.6 and I, again, felt NOTHING. Third fill, they had me drink Water while filling me and they took me to 10.0, which is just right. I'm freakin' Goldilocks right now.

I worried at first that I needed to much to feel restriction and that I might have to change to the 4cc band at some point, but my doc assured me that wasn't the case -- that he could get equal restriction with both bands. Pshew.

I have a 9cc band and have 6,75 in it.....and have ok restriction,a tad to little...but 7cc's and I have severe reflux......have been here twice and well catch 22 really....I have great restriction at 7cc but heartburn reflux and food sits on the band...I cannot BP and it seems my esophagus gets lazy at 7...so 6.75 is where I will stay.....

What is the difference between a 10CM and 10CC band? I have a 10CM Inamed band and was wondering how many fills it may take to get a good restriction.

I'm 5 days out from my fill and am very restricted. I PB's this morning after two bites. I am even feeling a difference in liquids. Hope I start to see some loss soon.

The 10cc band holds 10cc's of Fluid. The 10cm band holds 4cc I believe. I could be wrong on the exact number. That is why it is important to specify which one is which. a 2cc fill in one band is going to give the person a totaly different feeling than 2cc in another.

I actually have the 10 cm band with the 4cc max, so I'm glad I posted this thread for people with the 10cc band, but I've got a 4cc max. I read in a book that 1.5- 2 ccs in my band creates good restriction. I get my first fill on Aug 14th(maybe) so we will see.

By the way, my doc does not put a numbing needle in first before the fill, he says that it hurts the same with 1 poke or 2. Anyone else's doc do that? Or is that strange?

I think some doctors use a numbing needle first if it usually takes them one or two or ten pokes to get to the port, which is dangerous.

I have also heard/red that no matter what size band you have, if you have your first fill done under flouro your chances of having proper restriction is very good.small adjustments can be made from there, but the flouro gives the doc a fighting chance at seeing how slow the liquid is passing through your band.

I got my first fill on 7-19, he started me at 6 <10cc band> and I couldn't even sip Water. Took 1, then another 1 out, and I'm left very constricted.

I can drink, but a few bites of anything come right back up. I can eat something one day... like refried Beans - the next, it's back up. I just tried some real chicken, no way. I am frustrated. I'm feeling tired. Do I have to drink Protein for the next month? it's not a good way to do this.

How much restricts you is as personal as your face. We are all different in our needs. I do think, you shouldn't start out with as much as I did.

I'm going to call the Dr this week to see if I have to get an unfill.

I was up to almost 8 cc and after a few weeks couldn't even drink liquids. So now I am at 5.25 and this is not enought restriction. I get another fill on the 11th.

I just got my first fill on Wednesday. I have the 10cm band and he gave me .6cc. We both agreed to "sneak" up on proper restriction. I didn't want to have to go back and have some taken out.

Someone asked about numbing...he didn't numb me, it didn't hurt and he found the port on the first try. He never uses fluoro because we were told that he wouldn't get paid for the fill! The fluoro is done at the hospital and they are the ones that get paid, apparently his office can't charge the insurance for his service if it's done at the hospital. That sucks for him. I'm sure there are a few of his patients who need the fluoro.

OK here goes. my second band was a 10cc VG and I felt that I was eating everything with 7 cc fill, went in and had 1 cc put it now I'm very restricted thinking 1/2 would have been good. so between 7 and 8 cc for me

My Doc/NP uses lidocaine every time. The needle for the numbing is very small..like a pinch and it burns a little and then nothing. Have you ever seen the needle for the fill? I don't think I could have a fill without it. Maybe the needles the different Dr.s use are different. The needle my doc uses is a large gauge(thick) and has a sort of hook/curve at the tip....

My mom and I were just banded a few weeks ago with the 10cc band. We just wanted to know what most people who have the need to get their preferred restriction....

Do you need no fill, 1 ccs, 2 ccs, 3ccs.... etc?

Thanks :)

I had my band placed Nov of 2005. Fills went very slow, and until recently when finally getting to 8cc, I am finally starting to loose very slowly, but at least not staying the same any more.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
