Having Major Second Thoughts

Recommended Posts

BigServ, Since you've made the decision to be sleeved, I assume you've resolved some of your issues. Remember, the surgery is just a tool. The REAL work happens between our ears. It's easy to decide to eat something we shouldn't, and it goes down easily. However, taking the easy way is what got me here. I call it sleeving my head when I'm working through some issue to find a solution that works for me and for Rex (my sleeve's name).

As for advice for the liquid diet, don't let your "wants" run your "needs". You need to follow the liquid diet for many reasons, including to help shrink your liver. It's also a way of getting you used to how you'll be eating for several weeks after your sleeve. Stick to the diet and it will make recovery from surgery easier and help you get started learning how to eat and drink after surgery. For me, the liquid diet helped me kick my addiction to diet soda. I'm glad I did that during the pre-op diet instead of being forced to go through that on top of after-surgery pain.

Good luck! I think you've made the right decision!! :)

I don't know who you are getting your information from, but there really isn't anything that you CAN NOT have with the sleeve. You gradually have to work into eating things again, but you can not ever not have things again. I was told that coconut and celery could be hard to digest, but not to ever not eat it again. Also, there aren't any medications that you can not take with the sleeve.

I take a sublingual B12, not the shots and I am anemic. So, don't know where you are getting that from either. I NEVER drink Protein Drinks, they are NASTY and I would rather eat my Protein anyway, it stays with me longer than liquids do. I did drink them in the begining when I couldn't eat for the first 2 weeks, but that was it.

You really should do some research and if your Dr. told you this, find a new Dr.

Indeed you have. I have gone back and forth. Should I or shouldn't I? After much debate, I'm moving forward. Surgery is tomorrow. You will make the right choice for you. From my understanding the pre-op is the most difficult of the process. I wish you well and do right for your body. Sleeve or no Sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
