DR KELLY & TRISH -AWESOME!

Recommended Posts

Hello my name is Laura and I just had surgery with Dr Kelly on Sept. 2. I can only speak for myself, but I had the most wonderful experience.

I mean I actually felt better after surgery than I did before surgery, they removed a lot of scar tissues from a previous surgery.

I had no pain what so ever. Slight discomfort, but that was expected. I was ready to get up and walk 30 mins. after surgery, but they made me wait two hours so the anthesia could wear off.

They pick you up at the airport, take you to the hospital, when it's all over they take you back to the airport. I never once felt like I was in any danger and they all were so nice and helpful.

I now completely understand why it takes a little bit for Trish to get back to you. That woman is busy I saw everyday I was in the hospital and at the hotel. Several times a day, she was taking care of everything we needed we were there over the weekend so even on Saturday and Sunday she came to the hospital and hotel to spend time with us.

If you have any fears, pray about and give it to the Lord and have the surgery. As far as I am concerned there was no issues what so ever and like I said I have absolutely no pain. Although I have been giving the Lord all the credit for that Dr Kelly, Trish and the team were awesome!

Laura

Laura, congrats on being sleeved!! I agree with everything you said, I don't know when Trish has time to have a life or even sleep haha. She and Dr Kelly are amazing, and I am so grateful to have found them. I feel truly blessed!

After talking to her it makes so much more sense why she seems a little pre-occupied. I definitely get that now. She truly works hard and cares about you and goes beyond what is normal.

Thanks, hope all is well with you too!

I never saw any of those other coordinators there.

I have to take issue at what you said about how you never saw any of those other coordinators there. They are just a phone call away and they have a doctor visit you at the hotel. Dr. Romero is WONDERFUL! I'm not saying Trish is not a nice person, I don't know much about her, but she isn't a doctor and she is also not a nurse. I asked her.

I was very pleased with my coordinator Linda at A Lighter Me. I was given everything I needed while I was there. Ricardo gave me my glycerin swabs, chapstick and fluids and his card in case I wanted to go somewhere. I was also given a diet minder to help me when I got home. I have since been in touch with Dr. Romero and filled out the food diary he gave me. He is helping me with my post operative eating plan. I'm glad you are happy with your experience with Trish, but she does spread herself too thin and I have never had a problem reaching my coordinator and have always had swift responses to my questions. I also felt very comfortable that my coordinators are a U.S. business so if I didn't get what they promised, by money was safe! Again, I'm not saying that Trish is not safe, but I preferred to send my money to a U.S. business.

I've also read where someone said that Trish does many things without being paid. That is not true. When I did my research and was deciding who to book through, I talked to Dr. Kelly himself and he said that all the coordinators make the same amount of money and charge the same prices. To me that means that Trish is making a killing! Living in Mexico and being paid U.S. wages? I don't think anyone needs to feel sorry for her for all the work she does.

The more I read this stuff coming from the same people pushing Trish, I wonder if she is paying referral fees to these people. Just saying.....

Sorry aroseisarose is right, Dr Romero is awesome as well. This is only my opinion, when I did need to contact Sandy (another coordinator) once previous to surgery she did respond immediately.

Sorry to offend anyone I was just singing their praises!

BOTTOM LINE : IF YOU GO TO DR KELLY YOU WILL BE HAPPY, NO MATTER WHO YOU USE TO GET THERE!

Well wishes and GOD BLESS!

Groovearmada- I love groove armada! :) I adore house music in general.

Message boards tend to cater to rants and raves, people tend to not feel compelled to sign up for an account and post an average to good experience or opinion.

I am quite excited (and naturally nervous) to get sleeved by dr. Kelly November 7th.

God this is becoming boring. Anytime someone posts something positive about trish there is an almost instant reply by someone trying to discredit her.....

I totally agree with you on this!!!! The above person has all of 5 posts, all in regards to discrediting Trish and pushing her own coordinator, then she accuses others of being paid. HAHA As if we don't know who is trying to get paid around here. I don't care what people say or accuse me of, I will continue to reply to posts about my Dr or my Coordinator, or if asked, I will gladly share my wonderful experience. It's not like I start a topic every other day just to praise Dr Kelly and Trish, but some people here do that about their Drs and/or coordinators. I have thousands of posts here, I am here for the support and to support others and to share my experience in MX. Trish just happens to be part of that wonderful experience and I don't have to defend stating the truth about that.

:)

Honestly! That is all I was trying to do is voice my satisfaction with them. I mean I know when I first started looking at Dr's it is overwhelming, but seeing all the actual people post really was reassuring.

I was just trying to do the same! :) Oh well!

I was like you scared, nervous mostly about the area because all the hype about Mexico. I promise you, that you do not have anything to worry about. They take excellent care of you and provide transportation to everywhere you need to go.

You never feel lost or worried and Dr Kelly and his team, sweet and excellent! All I can say is you will be in good hands. It's like one of those "if I knew then, what I know now" I wouldn't have spent one second, guessing my decision.

It's safe and they know what they are doing!

God bless!

Laura

I don't think I said anything to discredit Trish! Someone else mentioned that she spreads herself too thin and I agreed. I thought someone else was discrediting my opinion and I spoke up. As it turns out, I took it the wrong way and she has since appologized and I did to her also. I have nothing against Trish. I think she was very nice!

KellyL, you are the one walking around with a Trish billboard on your back. I am not the one giving out the phone number and website of my coordinator every 2 seconds. I Just said I was very happy with my entire experience and I am! I am new so I don't have a lot of posts, but I did post when I got here and told about how great Dr. Kelly is! I loved Dr. Kelly and I also like Linda and Trish too. But I don't worship any of them. Well maybe Dr. Kelly a little bit! I'm entitled to my opinion just as much as you. excuuuuuuuuuse me! Next time I'll check with you before I post!

I've really enjoyed the help of my coordinator, Sandy, ( for dr. Kelly) thus far. So there ;P ...I'm happy to see everyone adores the people that have helped them through surgery, it speaks volumes about the practice as a whole.

I really enjoy reading about everyone's experience with Dr. Kelly, and his coordinators. I know that if I decide to go with this surgeon, whoever I choose to help me, be it Trish, Sandy, Linda, Tom, d**k or Harry, I will be very happy.

You absolutely have every right to your opinion. You don't, however, have a right to insinuate that anyone is getting paid for sharing their experience. Especially when you have posted your coordinators name phone # and even your name as referring them within like your first couple of posts on this board. So actually, YES you are the one posting your coordinators info. I have only done this when asked, I think in a recent thread entitled Dr Kelly and Trish phone # or contact info, and I also put it on my profile and in the "about me" section of my profile because I was getting questioned for this info a lot. But other than in a response to someone elses post and because someone specifically ASKED for the info, no I do not post Trish's info every 2 secs and I don't actually own a Trish Billboard. I do appreciate everything she did for me AND other coordinators patients while I was there in MX. Trish is the only one physically IN MX. That is a fact. I preferred using a coordinator there, and I recommend that to anyone else, especially if they are traveling alone. There may be things come up once at the hotel where you need a someone to be there physically. I am not referring to anything medical, because I know Dr Kelly would take care of that immediately. I am talking about needing other things. It was a little scary to think about surgery in another country where I didn't know anyone or how to get around in Tijuana if I needed to. I felt secure in knowing if I needed to call her for anything, she could come there within minutes.

You jumped on this thread saying that you "took issue" with the original poster stating a fact about something. How was that discrediting your opinion? She said she didn't see any of the other coordinators there. This was a truthful fact and she had the right to say it without you or anyone taking issue with it and responding defensively the way you did. We would not be having this discussion if you hadn't of butted into someones else sharing their own personal experience, and trying to make it about you and your coordinator. And numerous people felt you were discrediting Trish, not just me. I am not spending any more energy on this. I am here to give and receive support on The Sleeve, and to share my journey. And if/when the subject comes up, yes, I will share my experience with my Sleeve surgery, my surgeon, and my coordinator. You feel free to do the same wherever you like. At least we can agree on one thing, Dr Kelly IS awesome. But please do not say things about me that are untrue. I will be happy to return the courtesy. Thanks.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
