My sleeve surgery was on July 18th. I initially lost 19 pounds in 17 days. I am eating small amounts but have jumped ahead of what they say I should be eating. I have had no intolerance to any food. I am not eating Desserts but I do have a piece or two of sugarless candy. I have also had some homemade peach sorbet. I can tolerate any meat in small quantities. I am stuck. I will lose 2 lbs one day and gain another the next day. I haven't walked much. I have been stuck at the same weight for about 2/3 weeks. It is so discouraging. Anyone else had this happen to them. I did start walking today.

Hi! This isn't an unusual occurance unfortunately. Please read what I posted in my blog...I think I posted about 2 days ago. I thought I was a slow loser also and was very frustrated. I even went through a 3-4 week complete stall out. I thought forsure that the surgery hadn't worked. But then I was Enlightened by my nutritionalist. Please stop by and read what I experienced and what I learned. Hopefully it will give you a knew perspective. My blog is in my signature below. Hang in there! You will lose!

Sorry no weight loss in a few weeks - you have heard of the dreaded 3 week stall (talking about week 3 not losing anything for a week or two). I have more questions for you than answers. You acknowledge a couple of items - first that you are eating ahead of schedule and next that you are just now starting to walk. Stick to the diet since initally you do not have full signals. Measure everything and stick to food on diet plan provided from your surgeons office. Give your stomach time to heal.

Questions: How many calories are you eating a day? How many grams of Protein? How many grams of carbs? How much liquids are you getting in? Are you eating and drinking at the same time? What does your surgeons office say? Are you taking your suppliments?

If you were further along - my advice to those who stall is to shake routine - both eating and excercise rountine up a litte. Sounds like you need to get into ketosis. This is your "sweet spot" goal for first several months. If you are really concerned, talk to your surgeon at your one month check up and have them check blood.

Good luck!

I would follow your surgeon's instructions, there is a method to their madness. Start walking every day, increase your distance a little each time. Watch your portion size and eat what they tell you. With all of that said, most of us still have stalls, they will pass and yours will too. Read my blog from the beginning at www.kemo46.blogspot.com , this will give you an idea what to expect and show you where my stalls were. You will do great, we are so blessed to have this tool to help us.

Stalls are normal - I had gained 4 pounds and held that for a week before starting to lose again. However, you need to stick to the plan developed by your surgeon/dietician. There are reasons why they tell you to eat the way they do. You also need to be walking daily. If it's too hot out, simply walk in place in front of the TV while your favorite show is on. It's not quite the same as walking from point a to point b, but it is exercise. As long as you are doing what the surgeon and dietician tell you, this will work and you will lose the weight.

This is totally normal. I am 7 weeks out and have had 2 stalls so far. One lasted a week and the other over 2 weeks. I even gained 5 lbs during that time. I was very worried just like you but now in the past 5 days I lost 10 lbs. Don't worry, it will come off :)

Thank you all for the encouragement!! I need to put my scale away for a while because I am getting into some clothes I haven't worn for quite a while and I feel good. I can almost tie my tennis shoes without too much strain. (tee hee) I will be patient, eat what I am supposed to eat and keep on walking. I'll let you know if I start losing again.

Thanks again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
