Repaired Hernias, GAS, what a pain!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Aug. 9 and was discharged Wed evening.

I had done my homework, bought the right liquid foods & Vitamins.....but NOBODY told me how painful a repaired hernia would be on top of sleeve recovery. There are times when I try to sip Water (yea, just water) or even take a deep breath and CLINCH, my chest feels like it is in a death grip.:o

Then there have been nights when the gas pain in both stomach and lower intestines was unbearable. It hurt to cry....I think I had good prep on how life will be.....but not for the first week or so after surgery.

Anyone have tips to relieve pain?

I use a heating pad, Gas X chewables, Chamomille tea....

P.S. Stay away from the little laughing cow cheese.....who knew 1 small wedge of soft cheese could create a 24 hr. torture? He got the last laugh on that one.dry.gif

Sorry to hear that your repaired hernia is painful. I had a hiatal hernia too but not as painful as yours. I did get slight discomfort with gas but what really helped me is children suppository. I had gas and well it hurt to push so I used my baby's suppository and whala...The pain dissipated. I hope this helps and you have a quick recovery.

Every food plan is different, mine allowed me to have soft reduced-fat cheese, refried Beans and cottage cheese at day 4 . . . but I've seen others on clears for 10 days.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
