20 Mi Hiking & NO LOSS!

Recommended Posts

I went on vacation to the mountains and hiked up mountain trails 3-6 miles each day for 6 days. I drank the right amount of Water, took my Vitamins, ate between 600-800 calories, stayed low carb and around 72-90 grams of Protein. When I got home - THE scale HAD NOT MOVED. That was the most exercise of my life and NOTHING happened. Just disappointed - needed somewhere to vent!

Maybe you lost fat but gained muscle  . Sounds like you are on the dreaded 3rd week stall. Try not to let it get you down too much. You will soon see a downward movement on the scale.< /p>

Give your body some time to readjust! The scale will move. If you're like me your body will start to demand exercise and the pounds will start flying off, sometimes 2-3 in a day!

For the amount of exercising you are doing you are probably not eating enough calories and carbs thus slowing down the weight loss. If you are doing major hiking you are probably burning more calories than you are taking in. Also when you are excercising if you don't eat enough carbs (tit is needed to help burn calories or something of the sort. I remember reading about this and my nut also taking about it when I was early out. Just enjoy what you are able to do now as to what you could before surgery. I was not able to even hike 2 miles before surgery. Hang in there, it will come off.

Agree - you're not eating enough. If you are only taking in 600 calories and then burning 600-1000 hiking, you aren't going to lose weight.

You will see a drop your body is just storing up Water from all that it used powering your muscles. We keep several pounds of water reserves and once they are depleted the body starts saving up so you are losing fat just not seeing it on the scale. Grats on your awesome hiking btw!

It's Water retention. When you suddenly increase activity, muscles are injured and they retain water to help during the repair phase. My body does this whenever I start a new, strenuous exercise. Stay on the right path and you'll see a big drop as your muscles release the Fluid.< /p>

For some reason, I have NEVER been able to lose weight while on vacation. It doesn't matter if I drive or fly. I will always come home the same weight as when I left (or have gained a few pounds). Before surgery I always thought that I was eating more food than I thought and just not paying attention. After surgery I keep daily journals and I know my calories are 900-1000 each day, my exercise is up, and the scale just doesn't move.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
