8 days post op

Recommended Posts

I haven't been around in a while, just now able to really sit at the computer for long. Congrats to all of those on the losers bench and to those joining us soon. I'm still having pain and needing Tylenol every 4 hours, but I am getting around well. I was up and walking a lot right after surgery. They called me their star patient, but I seemed to have a lot of pain and bruising. sleeping is a challenge, but I have no hunger and have not regretted this once.

I actually gained 12lbs overnight from all of the fluids. It took quite a while to lose that, but the pounds started melting off within the last 3 days. I am 8 days post op and down 7lbs even with the 12lb weight gain, so 19lbs in 8 days. <laugh>

I was able to start mushies yesterday. Everything is going well so far, but I eat very little. I don't want to over do it especially since it's only 1 week since surgery. I can see my muscles wasting away already and cannot wait to be able to exercise and lift again.

GL all.

Sorry you are still have pain. Yesterday was my first Vicodin free day I had. But I was very tired yesterday and slept several times in between getting kids signed up for school. Today is better. Working on some refried Beans, sourcream, and cheese mixture. Drinking is a whole lot easier today thank goodness!

Keep us posted okay?

Thanks for the update! I gained about 12 lbs as well from the fluids - I can tell i'm starting to get rid of them now because I'm peeing a lot more than what I am drinking. :) I can't wait to start full liquids tomorrow, a month of that then onto purees!

YAY for you!! congrats on your sleeve. for some reason, i thought you were already sleeved!!dry.gif

i was really bruised on my left side for a few weeks and looked like someone beat me with a ballbat!! it was freaky! everyday gets better, hang in there. i can't believe that you are on mushies already. i did not get to do that until week 4. I also gained 12lbs after surgery. It did go away fast too.

take it slow, you will do great!

Hugs,

Kelly

Yeah, my practice wants us on full liquids before we leave the hospital and on mushies 1 week post op. I will probably lose more slowly because of this and not have that great 25-30lb weight loss the first month, but I am a lot more pleasant and feeling good because of it. I'm liking the way I look again, so I have no complaints. I am happy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
