For me, the first week went OK. I was just sore, not really in too much pain. I was a bit nauseous, but the doctor made sure that I received anti-nausea meds in my IV the first and second day. The day I did get out of the hospital, I slept for 3 hours solid and it was the best sleep ever! Be sure to walk often. It really helps with the discomfort. I had a routine the very first day that I put myself on and stuck to for the first month. I would drink my alloted liquids, walk a lap at the hospital (at home I walked the length of my house and back), then took a short nap for about 15 minutes. I did this every hour during the day and evening.

Healing goes pretty quickly. Just remember to drink what you can of your Water and protien and walk often. You will do fine! I was also very nervous about the pain, but after it was done, I was relieved that it really wasn't much at all.

I hope I am one of those people who heals quick and doesnt have any complications. Thanks for the advice!

Hopefully, that is the case! Remember to walk as much as you can. It really is the trick to the healing process. I found out the hard way during a different surgery. Once I started walking after it, I felt so much better. I was determined to not go through what I did before so I started walking within 2 hours of being back in my room. The first time getting up was a bit tough as I was really groggy (not sure that's how you spell it). After that, I was good on my own.

I don't think horrible is a good word. I didn't feel badly at all, like i posted before, the pain is nothing that plain tylenol can't take care of. . but its the gas pain that hurts. . .so alot of walking, and drinking warm liquids is really recommended. . . my doctor actually recommended Miralax to get stuff moving as well. . . but you know everyone is different. . i can tolerate ALOT of pain (not a good torture victim, wouldn't work well) lol . . . . but you may be more sensative to pain. . . but it's definately not childbirth. . .

Turning from side to side in bed was uncomfortable but not painful and I was grateful I'm primarily a back sleeper. I seem to remember spending most of my days sipping, burping, and walking around the house the first week or so.

Everyone is different, but i woke up with no pain no nausea. I was sore, but not in pain! I was tired the day of my surgery so i only walked once that night. But the next day, i was up and walking every 15-20 min. I am very thankful i wasnt in pain or throwing up. I would bring an extra pillow for your tummy when you sleep. I still do that now, to support my belly since i sleep mostly on my side. You will be amazed how great you feel, in such little time. Thursday was my surgery, Saturday went home. My first day home, i hung out at the pool under the shade, and then did a little grocery shopping after. Back to work on Tuesday And still feeling good! gOOD LUCK TO YOU

I can understand how you feel, cause i was also very scared before my surgery, as never had any surgery before that, in fact was never got that sick to be admitted to hospital, but it was all OK, though i guess everbody's body is difrent but i did not feel any pain or nauusea after th operation, in fact now its been 10 days and haven't faced any issues like dizziness, vomitting etc. Though i must admit i was very sore on the day of operation and tired of the bed, but once i started walking everthing was ok, got released on the second day. So dont worry hope for the Best and everthing will work out for gud.

Everyone handles things differently. Sarsar was next door to me and had the same surgery and she was up running around helping others because she came through it all like nothing had happened. I was sick as hell from the anesthesia and had dry heaves. The pain itself, even right after surgery was like I had been doing a lot of situps. NOTHING major at all. I wouldn't have known someone had cut on me if I hadn't been aware that I'd just had surgery.

Odd that you mention this, I just blogged about this and did a youtube video on it a few days ago lol

Really, nothing to be afraid of, you'll see. It's like you've just done 100 situps or crunches and you'll move a little slow but that's it!

This will be my first surgery as well, so I guess thats the scary part. I sleep on my stomach so that will be tough, but Im sure I can handle it. I have heard gas pains are pretty bad. Thanks for the response.

See I think nausea worries me just as much as pain. I hate to feel sick. Wow so you didnt have to take much time off work. That was another oen of my concerns. I was only planning on taking 7-10 days off of work. My surgeon suggested 4 weeks, but I thought that was a little much. I definitley can't afford to take off of work that long. A lot of people are saying a week or two.

I worry about feeling sick. I hate being nauseous. Are you planning to documnet your whole journey on yout ube? I've watched a few youtube VS journeys that have been very helpful. Thanks for the response. Good luck to you!

I was scared of the whole nausea thing but didn't have any after I got out of the hospital. I always have some the morning after surgery, for some weird reason. The nurses were quick to help me out when it struck, so that wasn't even a problem. If I had an issue at all, it was probably being a little sore, but what can you expect? Just take it slow and easy and you'll do fine!
