Actually, I'm starting day 3 of my pre-op diet and the only problem I am having is eating everything that I am supposed to. I get 4 shakes per day plus 6 other food items. I've been able to do the 4 and 4, but it's tough getting the other 2 food items in a day because I'm so full!

That's kind of a nice problem to have. How many diets do people get to complain about being too full! That's awesome!! :)

I am on my fourth day SOBER from a Diet Coke addiction, just ask my family, they know I was addicted, Making the appointment to have surgery is the only thing that motivated me enough to kick and go cold turkey, the first week I cut down then went cold turkey. I have unbelievable headaches that I am chasing with ibuprophen and drinking excessive Water that equaled what I drank in diet coke a day. I have heartburn, an emt told me my body was so used to have diet coke by the hour with so much carbonated acid the stomach made more acid to digest it. I am waiting for that to subside now that I am not drinking carvonated drinks and boy do I miss them. I can tell other side effects such as my nose/sinus are not dry anymore, and my digestive track changes too, did not know I was going to go through all this but glad I am on the road to clean my system of diet coke, so I am ready for surgery when it finally comes. This road is not nice but is going smoother than I thought it would. KUDOS to anyone else who is withdrawing too.

They must put crack in that Diet Mtn Dew! I was hooked on it for years. I've met quite a few other DMD junkies, too. About a year ago, when I got up to a 4 a day habit, I decided it had to stop and just went cold turkey. It does seem ridiculous to be a slave to a beverage-no matter how tasty and refreshing. I still have to have some kind of caffeine every a.m., like half a cup of coffee, or I get a headache that can't be killed with anything but caffeine. Still trying to kick that.

If we can get that DMD monkey off our backs we ought to be able to give up food too.

Best wishes on breaking your addiction as well as on your surgery.

Dang, girl! You were addicted! I didn't drink it on a daily basis, but I do miss it. I'm trying to find something else to fill that void but it's just not working. Meh.

You know, you could always get the caffeine free Diet Coke and toss it in a blender with ice... :) I may be trying that...

I don't have my official date yet...but still plan to start the pre op diet on July 7th. That day will go cold turkey from my cherry coke habit. I will probably have horrible withdrawals. I'll be jonesing for a soda and have a headache too. Ima true addict. I can't tell you how many times I have tried to kick it in the past. It is one of the main reasons I have never been able to maintain my weight and one of the main reasons I've decided to have the surgery. I will not be able to go back on my decision to quit! Good luck to all those who are addicted to soda!

Thanks for the suggestion and OMG does that sound REALLY Good but I am also getting off carbonation drinks also carbonation is bad for womens bones. It depletes the Calcium. So now that my taste buds are longing for Diet Coke, I have to decline. BUMMER!>!>!>:(

Yeah, I was thinking the blender would take out most of the carbonation. It's probably best to just avoid it altogether, huh? Well, we will get there.... lol! Soon!! Go July!! :)

I'm worried about my tea. I drink unsweetened at McDonald's but it has caffeine and mine at home isn't as good without sugar. Plus it strips the Iron from food (and me) so even though I take iron pills it makes me nervous. Oh, and I have been on a bowl an evening cold Cereal kick... Do you think they make low Carb lucky charms I could sprinkle Protein Powder on?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
