Starting the Gastric Sleeve process

Recommended Posts

Hello, My name is Jen and I have started the process for Gastric Sleeve surgery. I live in the SF Bay area and my surgeon is Dr. John Feng. I currently have a BMI of 45 and an excess weight of 110lbs.

I'm nervous and excited to have surgery. I definitely want to feel better and look better but I have witnessed first hand the difficulties and changes that come with surgery. My ex-husband had the surgery 5 years into our marriage and 2 years later we were divorced. I'm hope that I can find the support to help me get past these struggles as well as help me along my journey.

I currently do not have a surgery date. The program I'm in requires,on top of tests & Psych evaluation, that I "graduate" from Nutrition classes before I can be approved for surgery. I have just started those classes so hopefully I can make the lifestyle changes needed and can have a surgery date by late fall or early winter.

I guess this is a good start for now, if you have any questions feel free to ask (I'm not shy) and thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Welcome to the forum! I know you will be able to get through the stuff you need to, to have the surgery covered. I know it might also take longer than you'd like, believe me I know. However, this is a great time to read up on the surgery and become familiar with the changes you will need to make to have this surgery truly be a success. Good luck on your journey!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
