Calling all Exercise Buddies!

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

Well, I am doing so well with my food and Water, NOW it is time to jump on the Exercise Train! I have 4 weeks until I go on a Girl Friend Getaway to Punta Cana! Four weeks of daily movement...and I don't mean the POTTY kind! I will be reporting in daily so please bear with me! I would love for you all to join me. Please let me know what your favorite activity is. I have been walking but I thing it is time for more! Does anyone know when we can start sit-ups? I am anxious to start back to yoga...not so sure if my tummy can take that yet. Any ideas, much appreciated!

Happy Saturday!

Barb

I am pre-sleeve, but right there with ya! I just started my couch to 5k program, and I would love to have some people to keep in touch with. Good luck with your exercise program! I will be sure to keep in touch.

I am a 5 day a week at the gym girl and this was a major question I had for my doc when I made the decision to have band removed and revised to sleeve. He wants me walking from day 1 and then aerobics (cardio classes, spinning) at 3 weeks and than I can resume strength training, abs included at 4-5 weeks post-op depending on how I feel. I became an exercise fanatic during this past year with my band and I swear, that is the only reason I've lost any weight! Good luck.

I am still pre op and although I run, I'm too large to run comfortably for long, so I walk fast on an incline too.

I actually burn just as many calories speed walking on an incline as I do runnning. Anyways, I can't tell you how great it is for the back of the thighs and arse. Even my husband commented on how nice my rear end was looking. I dont think I'll ever stop that as part of my regular exercise as it seems to be giving me the most results so far.

My doc said no yoga / pilates / ab work for about 8 weeks.

You can work on the rest of your muscles, though. I admit, I have done almost no exercise and I am really seeing the affects in my muscles. My new pilates reformer is on its way to my house as we speak ;-)

Hey all! Yes, it's best to leave the abdominals alone for a few months post op - however working up to a good pace and heart rate beginning at about a month out was very doable for me.

If you all are interested we have a social group here for those of us who like to workout or need to stay motivated to keep doing it! Good luck to all!!!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
