Oh My GOD! That brings back major night mares for me!!!!!! I am almost 2 years out and had some coconut at about 1 year out. . . OMG it nearly killed me. . . the darn stuff wouldn't digest, it just sat there in a lump for the WHOLE day giving me severe grief. . . then i couldn't poop for about 3 days thereafter. . . let me tell you, it's definately not worth it. . . . lettuce, raw spinach and any raw leafy vegatables and beef does the same thing to me. . . it's like call me an ambulance! But that is me, you might be different. . . . good luck to you!

Somewhere there's a terrifying post about coconut forming a ball in the stomach for months. Absolutely terrifying. Totally supported my bias that coconut was not meant to be eaten.

Just sent my hubby to the store for some sf coconut cream pie pudding. I think a couple of bites will curve my craving. Man, those bars were so good but it will just have to go on the "no way" list. Im scared now!

I remember that post! She had eaten an entire fresh coconut over the course of a day, if I remember correctly, and some of the coconut fibers formed a bezoar in her stomach and she became obstructed.

Somehow I doubt that the amount in an Atkins Protein bar would have the same effect. I am getting an Almond Joy for my birthday next year, I love those things.

Look for the post... I think it was in the complications thread....

I love coconut too, I use extract, coconut powder , milk or di Vincies to get the flavor. Some love coconut Water too....I think it tastes like foot....

coconut and celery were culprits for formin a beozar. They are stringy and form into balls in the stomach and are hard to digest. I would think if the celery was cut up into small pieces then there would not be any long strings. The coconut I would try a very small amount but not fresh. Maybe finely ground stuff that you can bake with. It is something to watch out for.

I was told by the doctor to steer clear of coconut. There is no food that bothers me at this point (4 months out), but I am not chancing it. I have had celery with no problems. But to be honest, the only time I had coconut is with a chocolate bar so there's no reason for me to have it now anyway :)

I'm 6 months out and coconut hasn't had a bad affect on me. I love mounds and tried em around Easter and I was fine. It just all depends on your body, everyone is different. Whew thank god I'm not like some people and had a bad reaction, I luv coconut too much.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
