OK where to begin ...first off this is southern lady's husbaand My wife had surgery about 2 weeks ago. She was fine 11 days into it she had already gone home and had been back for check up and had even planed to go to work half days monday. On the12th day she started feeling bad. Day 13 was even worst..by day 14 she had high fever101.5. She is now back in the hospital.the whole experience has been very hard on her but she was coping until the 14th day..after tests and scans she has pnemonia and an abcess...she is throwing up every 3 hours or so.just almost too much for her...everyone is praying for her but not much change.

They put in a pic line so they can give strong antibiotics. They are trying to treat it without surgery. Tomorrow they are to drain some of the Fluid around the lungs and send it for testing. She has done everything by the book walking every day till she got really sick on the 13th day. She was tolerating soft liquids..everything was starting to get better. This is a major set back...has anyone had similar experiences...this has been very hard so far,...any ideas on how to stop the throwing up they give her phenigren and zofran it helps but its a crazy cycle we can't seem to stop.

Sending my prayers your way. I hope she is feeling better soon. I am just sleeved also, so not much advice here. Hopefully Tiffy and some of the others have some words of wisdom.

I have nothing of value to add, but I will say she'll definitely be in my thoughts and thank you so much for keeping us updated. Stay strong, this is a big bump in the road for you both.

XOXO Renee`

I had a similar experience. I got a high fever a few days after the operation (103-104). The doctor gave me strong antibiotics but I couldn't hold them down and would immediately throw up. I had go back to the hospital for a couple of days so they could straight line heavy duty antibiotics. That killed the infection/abscess. I was irritated to be back in the hospital but it was the right thing to do. I've been fine after that and haven't had any issues (close to 6 months post op now)l. Hopefully this will pass soon for you and the Mrs. Wish you the best of luck.

Have them try Compazine. They'll tell you it's an "old-fashioned" drug, used for seasickness, etc etc Just insist they give it to her. She should get better. My hubby and beat friend both wenr through the non-stop nausea and the ER doc gave my hubby Compazine at the suggestion of my friend's husband. Worked in one day for both of them.

Good Luck!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
